Preface:
- This is my opinion, but not one made in ignorance or rage. I have played MMOs for 15 years. I have botted myself hundreds of accounts across 7 MMOs. 100% honest when I say I have NOT botted in GW2. Partly because the need isn’t there, the desire isn’t there, and quite frankly there isn’t a good bot (what I would consider good) on the market. This speaks volumes as the quality of the staff at Anet.

I Been away for a while. 10 months to be exact.

Back when I played a lot, you knew OF bots, but never really ran into them. Sometimes you would see them flash into view, mine a node, and disappear again.
You heard of places they would frequent. off the shores of Southsun, or underwater in orr.
You could even go down and watch them. all 1 or 2 of them….

That was then…..

Now you can’t walk 10 feet into Orr without seeing trains of 5-15 toons all running the same routes, mining the same nodes, harvesting the same ghost peppers, and chopping down the same trees all in neat, organized rows. Many of which are Engineers – one major bots recommended class!

How did it get this way? this bad! Its rather angering.
Especially when I look at prices for items. The prices have virtually DOUBLED on almost EVERYTHING!

Specifically Legendary Precursors. (yes lets beat this horse again!)
Back “then” they cost about 500g, which was a lot, but you could do it in a month or so. Now they are 1100+ gold, yet legitimate means to make gold have not changed, nor yielded better results.
Essentially doubling the amount of work you have to do.

oh sure, you can toss stuff into the mystic toilet, and hope you are one of the lucky to get a precursor before you reach the estimated 2900 gold average that it takes.

With the changes being introduced in HOT some would say this is a moot point. No, that is not so. The time and effort are mearly being moved from a “lucky drop” or flush away everything. To more farming.

which perfectly suites botting.

I say all this for the reason I mentioned at the start of this thread. I am no stranger to botting. They are very recognizable once you know what to look for.

I think i speak for the vast amount of the community when I ask – wtf anet? -

You can read the bot forums and you will read things like “you still need to be careful, even with anets lack of action against botting”
and “bout the only way to get banned is to have multiple people report you -And then anet usually doesn’t do anything.”

So whats up guys?

Botting is alive and well I see.

Those precursers are account bond. The effort it would take to program a bot to do the activities required to complete the mastery would far exceed the effort to do it manually. This is literally a none issue.

I don’t think the two have much to do with each other.

If there is a resurgence of bots, it has happened recently, likely since Play4Free was implemented.

Items, especially luxury items, have increased in value over a long period of time, not just in the last few months.

Welcome return.

The new precursors are account bound.

No word on the old precursors made from the collection+crafting however. At least afaik, and I’ve never seen a source when someone says otherwise.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

because you can only get them once per account and you can’t sell them. what would be the point if you can just get it yourself?

Do you really have an issue with this, or are you actually just using this thread to sell bots? Because it sure sounds like the latter.

Do you know anything about the mastery track for these things? If you did you probably wouldn’t have made this thread.

I’ve seen a ‘bot’ in Metrica Province named Wïre X, a necro asura, in the small back cave beside the lab at Jeztar Falls. He’s not always there, but when he is, he just stands there. He belongs to a group called Inner Circle (IC). I often wondered if he’s a maintenance bot, but not sure.

When the randomness is gone, there is an incentive to unlock the legendaries and sell the account. If someone scripted the whole thing, it might become profitable.

If someone could completely bot a legendary, they’d be working somewhere that pays them 10 times what they could get from this. Or they’d be high tech james bond villains.

I think you guys really are missing the point in this whole thread though. Let’s assume they actually make a bot that is capable of farming precursors. If that is possible, that means they can create bots to farm just about anything and get away with it. That guy on the stream alone has 4 characters there getting loot from fractals, which do give out some better than average loot.
You keep saying “lol HoT precursors will be account bound” but what about every single other item? What about the materials? It might help you in the beginning to craft some stuff if the prices are lower, but later on when you want to make some money, everything is devalued.
I actually hope someone from ANet talks to the people that have said to have seen some bots/forums where botters gather and improves on anything anti-bot related.

If you want to see a small train of bots, just go to Iron Marches south of Glory’s Steps. The same ones have been there for quite some time now. They are pretty tough to spot at first glance, but if you watch them for a while, you will notice bot behaviors. They never reply or face consequences of my reporting, oh well.

You must just playing 2+ accounts at once? That not realy boting. For it to be true botting you need to have it set up so a human dose not need to play at all that the main aim for counter botting in GW2 i think. This is nothing new now you can just do it for “free” vs paying maybe 30 to 50 $.

not sure why one would bot to do jumping puzzle when he can simply use hacking software to fly through wall…. we have seen them in WvW, so they might just do it for JP as well…

That’s why FTP wasn’t a good idea. Have a Free Trial. If you ban the bots they just make a new account.
