Botting is completely out of control
I am seeing more and more bots. From the simple stand and shoot to the jump around in a pattern types.
I report them, I encourage pothers to report them, and yet I still see the same names day after day.
There has got to be a way to auto detect these people by now. MMOs are not exactly new to the market.
Not quite sure how you’d autodetect those little birds that bob up and down due to the water in that bulb on one end, hitting a key over and over…
I am getting annoyed by the number of bots as well.
I just spotted SEVEN Botters at once at United Arcanist Labs on the Sanctum of Rall server. Reported each one, and kept a couple screenshots of all 7 of them. Its just … really seven Botters in one location?

Idea: allow players to open a bot reporting window. If 8 players report then the offender is prompted with a CAPTCHA entry. If they fail to enter correctly in 10 minutes they are logged off and require another CAPTCHA entry to logon. A ticket is then submitted for GM review.

Nice idea and I think this should go to the suggestion sub-forum for further development
Hi there, I am from Hong Kong and please forgive my poor English. :D

I want something like this instead of the anti – farming crap
i haven’t seen any bots on ehmry bay server yet, guild mates have seen a few but i don’t think i have, Well its probably because I’m so engrossed in the game and don’t realize, actually i did res a naked norn. another player said they thought it was a bot so i res’d it so it could be killed again anyway lol. I think it would be good to give players some sort of power in numbers to d’c botters etc. like some suggested of a system that when multiple players report it is d’c’d or temp banned while waiting for gm review.

And it would take about 10 minutes until people started abusing this to harass people.

Asheron’s Call 1 used a system similar to this only it was manual. If players reported someone a GM would go to that location and tell the char’s to insert certain commands. Having a GM do this is unrealistic for a game like GW2 with so many more people, however an automated way of of doing it could work.

That would depend entirely on the parameters.
Maybe they are taking the Blizzard route and, rather than banning in each circumstance, banning in “waves”. E.g. make them think they’re getting away with it, then suddenly hundreds get banned at once.

“Take Action”. Right… That would explain why the same gold seller has been sitting in Lions Arch on Ehmry Bay for the past 3 days.

Ignore list. Problem solved.

Solves nothing, just means you cover your eyes like a child does thinking that makes the problem go away.
It does make the problem go away. If you don’t want to hear it don’t listen.
The problem isn’t that the gold seller exists, the problem is that people will buy gold in the first place. If everyone ignored it they wouldn’t be there.
i think that if you farm the same spot the drops get inexistent …so this may already be solved

When you invent a way to ignore gold scammers before they spam their site then let me know. Until then your idea is nothing but what I said.

No fanboy, it doesn’t solve the problem. Sorry to break it to you, but that means Anet isn’t doing their jobs. Being ignorant doesn’t fix problems.

so, what can they do?
when I played RIFT, I saw like 5 different people spamming the same site. banning an account doesn’t help much, they just hack another.

They keep banning. That’s what they have to do. It doesn’t change the fact that this “person” thinks that Anet would be able to stop the abuse that would happen if the above was implemented in 10 minutes. It’s been over 3 days now and the same gold seller hasn’t been banned. To even say they could handle something like that in 10 minutes is just being plain ignorant.

You should send them an application requesting to be a full time anti bot admin. I’m sure that would be a better use of your time, since it’s apparently so easy to do. If that spammer is there for 3 days straight that means I only haver to ignore him once. If they ban him they’ll just replace him with another, which means I’d have to report and ignore him again, and again, and again. They don’t keep the gold on those bots anyway since they know it’ll be banned eventually. Anet has plenty of better things to do then bothering to keep your chat log cleaned up.
