I know that people have been complaining about bots since the game was first opened, but it seems now that arenanet just doesnt care anymore.

In the past week, i have tried to play my level 80 messer to farm some of the events in Cursed Shore for karma. All the events seem to be camped by at least 4 bots or more per event and there are train bots running all over the place in low level areas, making playing there a pain as well.

Here is my story for the last week.

I rerolled my elementalist last monday. At level 2 i saw 4 ranger bots under the bridge in the human starter area.. reported all 4 of them numerous times.

As i leveled.. so did they. I would see them running the same pattern in the same area for days.

I went to caldon forrest at level 10 to help a friend with the post invasion right below twilight arbor and the worm event there and yes.. the bots would pop in, run around the swamp killing everything for a moment or two and poof… disappear.

By wed i was running the events at the bridge near meadows waypoint.. After 2 days i thought good… i know that i have reported these 4 bots at least 50 times.. and so had several others. BUT… nope.. there they were.. running around camping events near the bridge.

At around level 30, I would waypoint back and forth between meadows waypoint, the overlords camp south of there and then to another area out of the zone ( i forget where honestly) so that my xp from the events wouldnt drop. I figured that at least the bots, after running the events for days, wouldnt be getting any xp or karma from the events since they just did them over and over.. YET… i watched them at the bridge a while. They would run around and kill stuff… and then run to one spot between the bridge and the fort (about where the one catapult spawns) and disappear.

A few moments later, i noticed that the bot programmers had learned to use waypoints. They were waypointing to overlords camp, running a circle down there to get credit for that event and then they would run off the edge to the next event next door.. if it was up they would engage.. if not they would run to a point near the event, circle and disappear again.

Thursday morning, I decided to go back and check to see if the world worm was up in caldon forrest… and as soon as i waypoint to twilight arbor… who do you think i saw… Yup.. those same 4 bots. Just by pure coincidence that happened to be where they were zoning off map to get thier xp back up. They would run a circle by the lower camp and then disappear again. I was enraged.. so i made sure to report them all again and told everyone in the area to do the same, and everyone was complaining about them as well and said they had reported them.

Thursday night… the bots are still running around. They have obviously outleveled the area because they all have the down arrow. Reported numerous times again.

Friday morning. Bots still online, now they are running a pattern in bloodcoast out where the skalks spawn, south of the alpha drake spawn point. Reported them again and again.

Saturday morning Spotted the bots again… this time in sparkfly fin.. They are all there.. all running the pattern at splintered coast waypoint farming the kryat event, the gorge, then running up to where the dragon spawns, around the corner to where the quaggans come out of the water, back by the venders and back to the gorge… over and over and over.

Since saturday morning, these bots have been running this pattern in sparkfly. They disappear (not sure where to this time since they bot owner must have moved them from caldon to somewhere else as thier “out of map” xp revive place.. or whatever you want to call it. Yet i know hundreds… and i do mean HUNDREDS of people who have come for the dragon event have reported them every time they zone in.

Here is my point…. This happened a few weeks ago with more bots we reported. Now THOSE bots are sitting at events in cursed shore, farming kills for cash and karma, making it impossible for anyone else to get any kills. The 4 ranger bots drop all thier traps at the event spawn point near penitent waypoint, and as soon as the stuff runs in and becomes killable… its dead before you can get a single hit in. All 3 events at the end of the caves are camped.

The bots i have been tracking for a week.. are still in sparkfly fin, but by thursday of this week, they will be camping events in Cursed Shore if something isnt done.

I know the developers say “report them and they will be banned” etc… But this isnt the case.

Some people argue that “oh maybe thier not bots at all.. maybe its a multi boxer” No… these are bots.. After a while of running the same pattern, they actually start skipping and glitching even.

The developers say “keep reporting these bots… they will be banned in the next wave.. we always get them!” All i can say is … No.. they wont.. There are level 80 bots sitting at EVERY event in cursed shore.. and reporting them does NOTHING. These 4 bots alone have to have been reported HUNDREDS of times this week alone.. yet they will be 80 in a few days.. if they arent already.

Now… understand this.. i love this game.. i like every aspect of it, except the poor handling of the botting problem.

Come on.. please give us something more definate than “we will get them taken care of” and then leave the bots there for WEEKS to ruin events for the live players.

It is getting so bad that every single event you go to, there are at LEAST 3-4 bots in the area that run by. You can tell they are bots because day or night… they are ALWAYS running the exact same pattern over and over.

Reporting them DOES NOTHING at this point in time it seems… I have watched countless bots level to 80 while playing since launch… most of which are now camping in cursed shore.. or standing in town bragging on all the cool items they have now to thier friends (yes.. not all botters are gold/account sellers)

I have a LONG list of names of the bots. I posted them here once hoping something could.. or would… be done… But all it got me was a WARNING to MY account… and for the life of me i cant understand why. …

With all that said… can a game manager, developer, someone… log into cursed shore… go around to some of the events like those in the human starting area… or sparkfly fin… take a few minutes out of your busy day, and KILL THESE kitten BOTS so that the people who actually want to play the game the way it is intended… can do so!!!!

I know you have people who handle issues like this in game.. but letting these bots run for weeks at a time is NOT the solution… people are complaining that nothing gets done when you report them… and a few of my friends have actually quit because of it because there is absolutly no point in trying to do anything in the game if you cant get a kill at any event if there are 4 to 10 bots parked on it taking all the kills!.

I play on Tarnished Coast server.. My character name is “Truely Amazing” If you need to contact me.. please do.. i will give you the names of the bots and show you exactly where they are.. where they run.. what they kill etc.. Anything to help get them… but i will not report them anymore because that DOES NOTHING.

You are being impatient, young one. Learn to think outside the box. Maybe you have to ask yourself why Anet didn’t ban them, perhaps they have good reason not to?

Report them and move on. Anet has already said they deal with bots in large batches, so you’re just seeing bots in between batches. Don’t fret, and just ignore them. No sense in getting all riled up.

In all seriousness bots undercut everyone else and KS from legitimate players, they’re effectively stealing mats and gold from them.

Actually, yeah they have. Having to race them to tag the next mob is pretty tiresome.

As already explained by Mike, we are very commited to fighting botters. However, we are not going keep you updated about this situation every hour, or answer personally to each questions you are asking.
