Did you not see the ‘training’?
You’re not supposed to get commendations for a training mission.

It’s an extra 1000 influence per day, essentially, for small guilds. That’s awesome for small guilds that don’t earn oodles just from members logging in and doing their own thing.
The entire point of training missions is so small guilds earn influence faster and can actually stand a chance of unlocking some of the other missions/upgrades.
Great! So now you can unlock those missions faster and still not remotely be able to muster up the manpower to do the actual missions for commendations in your small guild!

1. The bounty training is for.. Training.
2. It rewards 3,000 influence for small guilds who may have trouble unlocking regular ones.
3. They are meant to help you obtain the regular bounty missions over time as was the complaint of small guilds “we don’t make enough influence”.
4. Almost every guild I’ve seen has offered help to small guilds to complete bounties if they ASK.

Or you can take the extra influence and unlock bigger guild vaults, guild weapon/armorsmiths…
Why, you could even unlock the other missions, and then, go to Lion’s Arch and ask complete strangers to help your small guild complete the mission! You never know, you might even make new friends.
Ultimately, would you guys really prefer ANet had NOT added the Bounty Training Missions? They didn’t have to add it, and tbh, I didn’t think they actually would add something that small guilds can do. Or at least I didn’t think they’d add something this quickly.

3k influence would be 6g not 3.
2g = 1k influence.

You can buy influence with coin at a Guild Promoter at a rate of 20 per point in the following increments:
10i for 2s
100i for 20s
1,000i for 2g
10,000i for 20g

Cof p1 is actually a lot of fun. The rewards are excellent and the time spent doing it is little.
1. I read on there that we wouldn’t get guild commendations.
2. I read on here that this was supposed to be something for smaller guilds
So, I expected #1.. but I don’t get why even bother. I need guild commendations for those new minis, correct? How can I possibly ever earn them without repping someone else’s guild? If there is a way, please tell me I will <3 you forever.

Be in a guild-help them get influence to open the bounty’s, do bounty’s.
When in need ask in map if anyone can help, chances are… they will.
Mission complete.
Doesn’t work? Try it again.
Not enough influence? Do all above with training until you do.

You didn’t read my message.
“without repping someone else’s guild”
I have my own guild, and as far as I’m hearing, it’s too small to do the “main” events.

As I said, get influence by doing training bounty’s. If you don’t have PvP Tier 3, it isn’t that expensive and shouldn’t take long to achieve. Even my personal guild has pvp 3.
Gain influence normally, events/wvw etc etc. And/or you can buy some with gold if you wish until you hit pvp III.
Once you do, do the training (in your own guild) simply ask for help in map if you need. Do this until you have enough influence to unlock Bounty Missions, then do them. Same thing, ask in map if you are having trouble.
From what i can tell, and correct me if wrong, pvp III is only 6k influence. Which is 12g directly, or maybe a month or so if you have a super small guild. But if 6 of you pitch in 2g in influence…

Right, everyone should do less work and get the same reward. Brilliant!
See here for the news post: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-missions-a-good-foundation/
As the problem of a being in a small guild, the best solution to that is as follows:
1) Make new friends and invite them to your guild
2) Join forces with other guilds (i.e. Alliances)
3) Join a bigger guild
3k influence is equal to 3 gold
Might as well do 3 or 4 cof p1 runs with a zerk group (4 warrior 1 mesmers)
you dont even have to do 3 or 4 cof p1 runs to get 6 golds. Just make a group with your 5 guildies and do ‘1’ cof p1 run and that will give your guild a total of 5-6 gold in less than 10 mins.

I feel the main flaws with it is the build time of 3 days and that it takes up a valuable build slot. Like others have noted Cof p1 runs into influence via promoter takes less time, will not take up build slot, and will most likely gain you profit.
Geotherma.2395 :
I think now I’m not providing enough information. I’ve got the level and influence covered as a function of running the guild since pre-launch eve, so it’s really just about warm bodies.
I think Smooth Penguin.5294 points to what would make the most sense as a solution: Guild Alliances (like GW1). I would like to learn why they chose the multiple-hat route over alliances, which worked fantastically for me.
I am making new friends all the time, in game, but the players in areas I frequent are usually pretty well established in their guilds… I find new players in lower levels, but I know it will be a while until they are up to speed for these events.
Perhaps, for me, the most important question: Is it possible for me to participate in other guild events without representing? I know it’s stubborn… but I feel like I’m in a chicken-and-egg scenario where if I rep others to get the events, there is no incentive for my guildmates to rep, either.
Please take my statements with the understanding that I am not losing sleep over it, but I would like to be able to continue to have a complete mini collection, which feels impossible without losing my identity.
And of course, this isn’t my thread… I don’t think the training events are a rip off, so perhaps I’m taking it off topic.

why would training give the regular rewards? The reward is the obscene amount of influence you get for it.
Guild Bounty training mission is there for you to get influence so you can reach AoW5 a bit faster if you dont have it, so you can unlock regular Guild Bounty.
If you can handle the mark in the training version with your guild you should be able to kill 1 out of 2 marks in the regular guild bounty and earn the commendations. You might lack people to find both marks, although you really only need to use one person to find number two while you kill number one.

Nice to know there are helpful people out there, but unfortunately the majority of the people seem to have really bad attitude when it comes to helping out since they won’t get any credits for doing that. I was doing guild bounties with my guildmates, had a bit of trouble finding the NPC so naturally I asked in the map chat if anyone have seen the NPC around, only to get replies “Why would we help you? It’s a guild thing, you are supposed to do it with guildies and not with random people!”.

You must have a bad server, because guilds help each other all the time on Tarnished Coast. Almost every time we do a bounty there’s at least a couple of guilds that help us and we help everyone.
I think maybe twice we ran into a couple of idiots, but far more, we’ve gotten help when we needed it.
I don’t get where this idea that tier 1 guild bounties can’t be completed with a small guild is coming from. From experience it requires 6 people to have a high chance for success with a tier 1 bounty. My guild will be able to do guild treks today, and I would assume they can be completed with a small group as well. So, I think the training mission is a great way for smaller guilds to amass influence to unlock the guild missions.

Guild Treks are very easy. They give you a picture and you have to find it. Big gold circle where you need to stand to activate it. Can easily be done with 6 people. At tier 3 they give you 20 locations and 20 minutes to find them all.

Unfortunately, to some people it is and will always be “get mine > everything else”.

In other words, the solution to “being in a small guild” problem is “not be in a small guild”.
It’s about as helpful as the solution to the “engineers are underpowered” problem being “play a warrior”. Meaning – not helpful at all.

Awesome design anet have my babies
If you can’t muster up 5 people to do the missions then maybe you should get some more friends? I mean 5 people is just a single group.
This is especially true if you just want comms and don’t care about completing the missions for merits. It takes a decent amount of skill to complete T1 bounties with only 5 people, but to only kill 1 guy for the weekly comms it is trivial with 5 people.
With 10 people you can complete T1(Trivial)/T2(somewhat of a challenge) Bounties, Guild Trek (trivial, did T3 with 5 people), Guild Rush (10 people should be plenty).
I haven’t tried Challenge or Puzzle Yet, but you can unlock both of them with a guild of 10 people at almost the same rate as larger guilds due to weekly caps and build times.
Right, everyone should do less work and get the same reward. Brilliant!
If I understand this whole thing correctly, the recommended solution is for the OP to get people to join in to help. Those people would be doing the same work for less reward. Why is that OK?

Oh really? if that’s the case why are large guilds, or any size guilds for that matter, allowed to do these training missions? Why wasn’t there a guild size number restriction so larger guilds, who can lick this kind of training mission any time they please due to their large membership, cannot abuse this system? It seems to me, all the training missions have done is given even more easy ways for large guilds to earn influence points, making the gap between large and small guilds even larger. GG indeed!

Intended =/= Reality
Training missions are intended to help small guilds get influence faster so they can get the bounty mission.
Even so, larger guilds who can make 3k in no time a 3 day research is 3 days with only one research slot(2 if your using Asuran contracting). To larger guilds Time>Influence.
Honestly I like the IDEA of the training missions. I think that they had the right idea on adding content for smaller guilds. Sadly the implementation feels hasty and not well thought out.
The biggest problem I see with the missions is the time limit along with the complete lack of locational information on the bounty. I do not feel that I should have to seek information from a 3rd party on the “possible” location of the bounty. Having to alt+tab every few seconds is NOT a fun game mechanic. I do not mind searching for a bounty and if the needless time limit were increased I wouldn’t feel the need to seek out location information to find the bounty. They either need to provide more information on the bounty location or increase the time limit.
When a small guild invests influence into these missions, which take 3 days to train, I’m pretty sure most of them expect to succeed. The probability of success should not depend on a needless time limitation of 15m; I think 30m or an hour is perfectly reasonable considering the amount of other things to do in any given zone. Having needless limitations is not fun to anyone and it is a lazy excuse for “difficulty” imo.

A ripe-off? Is that a contest between fruits to see which gets ripe the fastest?
Sorry couldn’t resist. Seeing ripe-off made me giggle.
It’s a rather poor band-aid fix for a poorly designed guild missions system.
Tier I guild Missions should be easy to unlock, T3 pre-reqs at the most. T2 and T3 Guild Missions, which are really only doable by larger guilds anyway, should have required much more effort to unlock, to give larger guilds something to work towards.
Instead of fixing it correctly, we got a way for all guilds to earn an extra 3,000 influence daily, which is just a really bad band-aid fox no matter how you look at it.
Better than nothing, but it doesn’t make a redesign of the entire system any less necessary.

I agree with this tbh. I’m new to the game and to guild bounties, but we did a couple of training missions last night and failed them both. One was the golem which we lucked upon with about a minute of the 15 to go and couldn’t kill him in time, the 2nd was the escaped prisoner who we didn’t even see before failing.
So yeah as this guy said, either increase the time limit, provide reasonably accurate location info or restrict the training bounties to the targets with small/short pathing routes!
Part of the challenge is to find the bounty targets. 15 minutes is enough time to hunt and kill. Any more would ruin the challenge. I’m glad Easy Mode is turned off.
