Could not even go the holiday’s without bad mouthing people for wanting to spend time with their families. I am happy that A-net are taking a break from content during this time.

i was kind of hoping for new years glasses, fireworks (big one.. not those small ones) some type of new years outfit/armor type thing, maybe some type of new years gathering tool, or dyes. though i’m glad they’re having time off. Happy New Years Team Anet.

it’s also a strange mixed feeling between actually wanting new things in the gem store to celebrate this new year with and not wanting anything at all because all of the other useless items in the store.

The day isn’t over yet. In fact where ANet is it’s just beginning.

They are almost certainly not on vacation… Anyone who isn’t in high school or college has been working all week and is still working until 5:00 tonight.

People still need to buy food and pay rent in December, so they still have to work. They don’t magically get 3 weeks off just cause.

It’s almost as if people actually get time off during the christmas season.

Though obviously the ANet people are not retired, by definition. Still, a lot of people save up their leave to use during these holidays, so they most likely have a diminished staff on any given day.

Anyway let’s see what sales, if any, happen tomorrow. The promotions tab of the gem store is covered in flags warning the sales are ending tonight, which will make room for more.

I work at a factory and my last day of work was December 23, I don’t go back until the 5th. No vacation or holiday pay as I haven’t been there long enough yet. The reason I’m not working is because of plant shut-down. I have also worked other jobs in the past that do this as well.

I have no problem with Anet taking a vacation over the holidays, regardless of what “other” companies or employees do. If anything, I think more companies need to take more time off around the holidays, especially if they’re a non-essential service (Obviously we can’t have all the grocery stores take a week off or have the airlines shut down and strand everyone travelling for the holidays, but for game design? Absolutely, we can live without that!).

But I too noticed how odd it was that we didn’t get a Gem Store update this week. First time in… honestly, as long as I can remember, where we’ve gotten nothing on a Tuesday. Even when they’re on vacation we usually get small stuff every single week, pretty much without fail. Its very strange.

Of course, as people have mentioned and I myself have also noticed, a bunch of things are going out of the Gem Store tonight (and a few went out last night). So that could be clearing the way for some stuff to go live tonight or tomorrow, perhaps. Maybe its not a case of “not getting anything this week” but we’re just getting it a couple days late to make it a proper New Years addition.

You’ve spoken to every single worker in the world have you? I finished work on December 24th and don’t go back in until the 5th January because my place of business is reduced to a skeleton staff for that period. Other people have annual leave or work in sectors where there is complete downtime over the Christmas period. Don’t assume that because you’re working during this time that everyone is. Also, when the Anet devs decide to take time off is their business, not the gamers.

I can tell you, from a little research, that the employees get paid vacation. Often they work mad hours to get Living World content out. So much so, they’re often asked to work 12-hour days and come in on the weekends.

Yes, they’re on vacation. Given this criteria, I would be too.

I, for one, wish the Arenanet employees a wonderful holiday (vacation and all) and look forward to another year of GW2.

Must be nice to be you then, I and many people I know do not have the luxury of a two week vacation during the holiday season.
