Boy, this game is pretty
I love it! Although my PC can’t run max graphics, there are still some stunning places all over Tyria. The many vista points are great, and even some “hidden” areas that offer some great views!
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
It still drives me nuts that there’s so much gorgeous lighting stuff going on overhead that’s very easy to miss because of the camera placement and FOV.
Priorities, what to do?
Spend hours with dye
I’m still running GW on my 3.5 year old laptop, and I cannot wait until I’ve saved up enough to get a good gaming desktop. Every time I’m over at my gf’s house, I wind up just watching her play and making ‘ohhhhh’ noises about the graphics. So pretty!
The original Guild Wars was beautiful in the same way even with its dated graphics fidelity. They just have really striking landscapes.
Anyone can make tree/forest/mushroom landscapes look colourful and cool but ArenaNet have a knack for turning deserts and grass plains into the same gorgeous views.
There’s a jumping puzzle in Frostgorge Sound that has an amazing view when you get to the end and look down at the area you just got through. Wish I was hope so I could post a screenie…
Needless to say, I agree the game is beautiful. I remember my jaw dropping when I upgraded my system, maxed my settings, and realised there’s seaweed underwater. I’d never seen it before on low!
Half the reason I tried this game was that it was the first MMO I had seen that didn’t have ugly, blocky, washed out water color looking graphics.
I understand that most MMO’s do this to allow people with low spec machines to run their game, but it just makes everything look like a cheap WoW Copy. GW2 is the most unique looking of all the MMO Games. I have a friend who doesn’t play MMO’s at all, and he was watching me and a friend play a few games. The only one he could identify right away was GW2.
Everything else looks the same, GW2 stands out graphically. The game isn’t perfect, but when it came to the graphics they really did it right. From the textures to the character animations, it stands out above other games.
On max settings the game is stunning.
yes, I agree. the Beauty and Colours of the landscapes is something that actually made me do world completion more than once. And I will do it again I guess.
And i can even appreciate people stomping me in PvP because i can see the character models close up then
This game really does look good. The lighting effects, in particular, make some areas look so incredible. They really did it right when they designed the textures/lighting effects/shading in GW2.
Favorite area has to be The Grove, though. It looks pretty Avatar-esque, but it’s gorgeous regardless.

GW2 has the best graphics of any game I’ve ever seen. From what I read its due to Daniel Dociu, the guy seems to be gifted.
Its not just Daniel Dociu and being gifted. It is all hard work and sweat with good vision and leadership I feel personally =)

I agree this game is very beautiful and atmospheric, especially the Grove. It reminds me of Avatar but also of an area in Myst. That game also was very atmospheric with beautiful sights and sounds. As much as I’m a visual person (art major in school) I also really appreciate the music, sound effects and spoken dialog in GW2.
It sure is pretty, I can’t stop taking screen shots lol and here are few of my favourites.
1) Black Citadel, love the lighting in this place.
2) Nice Sylvari touch in Kessex Hills
3) Always lovely Frostgorge Sound and
4) The beautiful Kodan ships there
5) Very contrasting Ascalon area, Blazeridge Steppes
6) Another favourite Timberline Falls
7) Not to forget Orr

Very nice pictures. I’m particularly impressed with the one of the Black Citadel.
Here’s a new one.
