I know that technically humans are mortal and everything… but come on, the guy is inspired by Santa Claus, who has been alive and kicking (allegedly) for going on 1,744 years. Surely the in game counterpart can survive a little over 256 years?

Nicholas the Time Traveler. It was a GW1 joke.
Make it happen…
Him and Mr.Yakkington are in the game already as adjacent graves in Ebonhawke.

I remember seeing a thread on gw2guru forum back during beta, where someone had found a child NPC in Fireheart Rise. That person spoke to the NPC and was told he had a friend named Nicholas who had a family tradition of collecting things. The child said he was looking for grawl necklaces for his friend Nicholas.
There was a screenshot of the NPC and the conversation.
He’s dead though O_o….. Like Mimizu pointed out, you can visit their graves.

You do realize you can also visit the tomb of Saint Nicholas. That doesn’t stop people from believing in Santa Claus or dressing up as him, or for crying out loud carrying on the tradition of gift giving in his name, now does it?

It doesn’t necessarily have to be Nic of old.
Amaranth is an NPC who wishes to travel all over Tyria, for an example.
We already have a couple of people in the community that fill Nicholas’ roll. But I wouldn’t be against them bringing old Nic back.
Good idea! He could collect the junk we sell to merchants in return for random goodies.
:D I support this.
he is dead
all is vain
Since he’s dead…and so is Yakkington….
How about his descendant perhaps? Carrying on the family tradition kind of thing? With some solid back story to support it, I think it would be pretty cool.

It seems that I may be the only one who has seen “Ghosts” in Tyria. What does it matter if he is dead?
I imagine his ghost would still be trying to unload all the Mursaat Tokens he collected in GW1!

That is a valid point, and according to the Christmas Carol by This Guy, Santa Claus might actually be a ghost after a sort to begin with. The Ghost of Christmas Present was Santa Claus afterall…
So Nicholas Sanders Ghost makes sense from that perspective as well.
Really, Anet… really? You censored a Popular Author’s LAST NAME?? REALLY?? I had to link to his wikipedia page because you censored his name. Wow.
The Censor on this forum is really bad. It shouldn’t censor words that are actually legitimate NAMES for people who are well known in the popular culture just because part of that name is a swear word. And really, that particular euphemism for male genitalia is gradeschool slang and not really a swear word in most peoples books. For crying out loud that happens to be some people’s FIRST NAMES!!!!
Is this Forum policy trying to tell me I can’t name my child Richard, because if I do I can’t refer to my child by the commonly accepted nick name for Richard because it also refers to male genitalia?

Yeah. That was it exactly. :-)
I have high hopes that they will bring this back in some way with a descendant of his carrying on the family tradition. maybe this thread will make them consider it.

That’s just what I was going to suggest. Amaranth could easily fill the role of the Traveller, but what exactly would she collect? Junk items were designed for players to instantly vendor for a small bit of cash. Forcing them to hoard them seems counterproductive.
Unless you’re thinking about having her collect unwanted items, like “I’m feeling lucky today! Bring me 10 Black Lion Chests!” and then watch the supply on the TP drain to almost nothing within an hour. XD
I didn’t realise you were just suggesting someone LIKE Nic, I thought you meant Nic himself, so my apologies xD

Well, this could give Junk a dual purpose: Sell for cash now, or save up in the event she wants them.
Add in Material Upgraders (for example, you can trade 10 Chipped Claws for 1 Tiny Claw) and you have another reason again. Suddenly, junk isn’t useless loot anymore.
