What one liner? The post that you put in spoilers and then declared arguing for the sake of arguing was certainly more than a single line.

Just because you disagree with what I’m saying doesn’t mean that I’m arguing just to argue.

^ That one.
Ignoring others’ text to continue arguing is one thing, but ignoring one’s own text is just being oblivious and pointlessly contrarian.

There is plenty of justification to put it in PvE which I had mentioned in an earlier post.

I hope you don’t mean:

They are PvE.

Because that is hardly a compelling or descriptive statement.

There are three game modes: sPvP, PvE, WvW. Which one does it fit in? Certainly not sPvP or WvW.

This attempted logic puzzle ignores a very simple alternative. Activity does not belong in any of them. But that statement has not gone addressed for several argumentative posts because fingers in ears and lalala:

Activities are fun mini games that players could play. just because you compete with other players does not make it any less PvE.

Actually, yes, it does. When I go to Silverwastes to help with a boss, that’s PvE. When I go to Brisban for daily events (okay, I don’t actually do this, ever), it’s theoretically PvE (even though it’s a panicked tag-fest to get loot and credit).
But Activities are, by definition, player versus player. Does the entire party have a team score where they keep the crab away from the karka as long as possible? No. Is Southsun Survivor a group game of gathering resources and weapons to stave off the island’s threats? No. Do I actually need to keep explaining this? By iron, I hope not.

Yes, a lot of the activities have some form of PvP element but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they cannot be included in PvE. There really isn’t anywhere else to put them.

The only “PvE” thing about Activities is that they are accessed through an NPC in Lion’s Arch. If there’s no other place to put them in the categorical groupings, then it is disqualified for all of them and ought to be removed as a daily item.

But the kicker is, those in the know use Daily Activity as a quick completion. Don’t AFK and you get credit, even if you lose. I’ve done Southsun Survivor runs where I actively tried to get eliminated, except I somehow won. Finish the Sanctum Sprint run and you get credit. The worst is Crab Toss, because there’s no quick way to end it. But it is still PvP.

Everything else in your post I had addressed and I saw no reason to repeat myself as all you were doing at that point was resorting to personal attacks.

I touched on to some of the reasons in a previous post.

That’s your opinion that you believe that an activity doesn’t belong in any of the game modes. It’s fairly far from being a fact. You claim that them not perfectly belonging in any hasn’t been addressed but I had. I’m not the one with their fingers in their ears going lalalalala.

As I said before, the activities do not fit perfectly but PvE is the best game mode to put them in there as they were introduced through the living story and do not fit with the other two game format structures. Even sPvP and WvW have PvE elements but those elements fall within the structure of those game formats.

As I have said before, if you don’t like activities then just don’t do them.

The activities use PVP architecture (they even used to have you in your PVP armor, when that was still a thing. They were also bugged to give rank points for a while), as far as the game is concerned they’re PVP.

Better and more diverse PVP than “sit on a point forever”, too.

It hardly matters whether the activity is classified correctly or incorrectly as PvE. The point is: some people don’t like it and feel that ANet should accommodate their preference by offering different PvE options.

I don’t happen to agree — we have plenty of choices, in my opinion. There are four options labeled PvE every day, 1-2 PvE-like options from WvW, and 1-2 nearly-PvE options in PvP. Further, we get incredibly valuable rewards just from logging in every day. It’s no tragedy to miss one day a month because we don’t like what’s offered.

The current set of dailies is, for the most part, super quick and sometimes even fun. The old dailies (waaaay back when) took longer and got old more quickly. For me anyhow.

tl;dr current dailies are just about the best they’ve ever been. I wouldn’t like to see us go back to the old ways or old choices.

I don’t agree. The PvE events daily is utter trash. Doing daily events in lower level zones with a herd of L80’s spamming AoE at mob spawn points is possibly the worst MMO gameplay in existence. The events task, at least, has never been in a worse spot. Well, unless the point is, “I can get this over with faster.” Though I’m not so sure that’s a good thing for the game.

It should be possible to, without too much effort on ANet’s part, introduce a second PvE category. This would encompass niche PvE objectives like dungeons/fractals and mini-games. Most of this stuff already exists in legacy code. Meanwhile, the other PvE category would offer persistent world general PvE tasks based on regional rather than zone-specific criteria. None of this need affect the QOL benefits of the current iteration, like, “Do three and get Completionist or the tasks for the sPvP/WvW modes.”

Why should PvE get more tasks? If you look at the nature of PvP and WvW, those modes are centered around player v. player conflict. Just playing those modes, you get to do dailies organically (for the most part). Most days, you can get dailies done in WvW by just doing a few basic things. In PvP, while there might be some argument about the “Win as a” task, tasks involve just playing the mode.

You cannot do this in PvE. PvE is a much more diverse game mode. The more things to do that get labelled PvE, the more restrictive a 4 option system gets.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the repeatable dungeon-run achievement get switched to a more robust set of dailies similar to what Fractals have. Something that highlights different paths every day, rather than giving fluid gold for spamming the same 8 paths every day.

Overall, I’d agree. With an asterisk.

PvP and WvW choices are fantastic. And getting the daily reward by participating in a mix has been a stellar idea.

What qualifies as PvE is very broad, and some items on the rotation list need adjustment. And I’ll never not push for some of these. :P

  • Zone event completion (which is very contentious and makes for poor gameplay) should at least become Region event completion to thin the zerg.
  • Daily specific boss should shift to just Daily Boss Victory. PvP/WvW dailies can be completed at any time, but waiting up to 3 hours just isn’t good design for a daily. One either has to linger or interrupt play time to participate in those events.
  • Activity needs to be ejected from the rotation. It doesn’t fit core PvE gameplay.

That aside, I love that jumping puzzles were added to the rotation. I’ve gotten to see so much more of old Tyria that way.

As a whole, the daily system is a huge step forward from the past, and I hope there is no need to change it beyond a few minor details.

Just make them “Standard Options”. For instance instead is randomly rolling 4 you just roll in categories. For PvE a new world boss daily everyday instead of getting lucky with a world boss daily you want. Or better just type it top beating any world boss. Then do the same for dungeons, JPs, gathering regions etc.

In pvp that means no more winning with a specific class. Just increase the wins required to two in any given unranked match. Easy. Same with player kills and rewards and the like.

Let me actually play my way!
