Given the joke that is pvp now (unbalanced, faceroll elites, LESS viable builds, and the recent terrible patch), I’d like to see some of the old dailies back with more pve options. I can’t stand pvp as it stands now, and would like pve options until Anet gets this HoT mess figured out, pun intended.

Point being that I’d like to be able to do dailies without having to engage in PvP/WvW, it used to be a viable option, but Anet seems to have jumped on the e-sport train nonsense, and it just isn’t working for all of us.

My entire guild has quit since HoT came out, I’m the last hold out. I wish HoT never happened honestly.

Master on Monuments, Big Spender, Land Claimer and Guard killer are easy enough even for low lvl players I do them on my lvl 35 Ellie and the 2 gold is well worth the couple of minutes it takes. Forgot Veteran Slayer

PvE dailies are already easy to complete, and there is always an easy WvW daily to do which means you can get away with only doing 2 PvE dailies and still being done quickly

And there are PvP daily rooms where you can easily cooperatively get at least one but almost always 2 dailies a day in one “match”

Dailies have nothing to do with esports not do they have anything to do with the condition that pvp is in.

PvE dailies have ALWAYS been viable. I cannot remember a single day that you could not complete the daily meta by doing just PvE dailies.

Frustratingly, if you have HOT you get punished in the PVE dailies. At rollover I usually have both my HOT account and my non-HOT account logged in at the same time. For the HOT one: 4 events in DS. Well, that is a wash since I have yet to even get to the zone (if the event to get there from TD will succeed I will crash). My non-hot account? It replaces the HOT events with a low-level zone instead.

Yes HoT events are mixed in with the dailies. I think Nikal meant that when an HoT map is chosen, there is not a core Tyria option to do instead. But don’t get hung up too bad on dailies, it is a super long AP progression, without any real return on investment. You can get the dailies done fairly quick in pvp daily rooms, harvesting, and sometimes when needed, an easy WvW daily.

Blasphemy!!

I’m not a PVP fan and I have never even had to enter PvP to get my “new” Daily

I did however like the old dailies a bit more since you could get more AP’s when doing more dailies and it had more options

Do two PvE dailies, and 1 of the super easy brainless WvW or PvP ones (guard killer, capture a point, or the pvp daily rooms where you get free easy wins)

this isnt hard. you dont have to enjoy or be good at or invested in wvw or pvp to get those dailies done. there are multiple ways you can do this

This. Especially if you haven’t asked friends, guild members, or even map chat for assistance and if you’ve got a teleport to friend item.

If I had reached that map, I’d be willing to help you reach the map. Unfortunately, I have not as I have not done much exploration in any of the HoT maps.

You are insisting on missing the point. When shiverpeaks come up, fine, everyone, hot or non-hot does it. Most likely do your gathering then pop over to WF to do the shaman events.

IF you have bought HOT your rotation now changes. Whereas before you could go do some brainless thing on WF now you have to go to a level 80 map as a thank-you for buying HOT.

Basically, whether you call the HOT significantly harder or not, you are degrading your experience doing dailies as a thank-you for buying HOT. This does not happen if you do not buy HOT.

I am sure I am not the only one who has not reached DS. So having me do something there is pretty much saying I have one less possible daily.

When you first buy the game, and you’re leveling your first character, you’ll get dailies for maps you’ve not yet visited or aren’t level enough to do. It’s the same thing.

You put far too much importance on jumping through hoops.

Make it something to look forward to in the future when it comes around again and you’re capable of doing it… and instead go do the stuff that you can do, whether they be dailies or other things.

That’s not a bad thing to have stuff in the game to work towards, including the ability to do all the dailies that can possibly come up. Acting on the feeling that you’re being slighted is the wrong perspective with which to approach this situation.

Some days the PvE dailies on rotation suck for me too. So I hop in other game mode or just let it be. Two golds are nice money but I have yet to become so poor that I couldn’t get by without it.

In not missing the point. You’re just trying to argue one which doesn’t have much basis.

All of the dailies that are in HoT are added onto the existing daily lineup. They don’t replace anything. All that has happened is that there are more variations in which dailies you end up with every day. You should also remember there were a lot of players calling for HoT to have dailies too.

Your gathering example doesn’t make sense. If it was Orr then you’d have to jump to a level 75+ map. Dailies are based in the highest level character on the account. Yes, sometimes you will not be able to do every single one on a character that you are leveling. But then it’s not like you’d be able to when the daily is a dungeon or fractal.

Your experience is not being degraded. It’s being enhanced with more options to what the four dailies could be.

You’re making ther personal choice to not reach DS. Your ability to do that daily or not is entirely on you. If you choose not to do it then the only one you can blame is yourself rather than the daily system.

If it’s not 30-minutes before event restart, nothing. That’s what. If you’re not in the bloated LFG squad waiting to do the event, then nothing.

I wanted to be excited that DS was on the rotation the other day, but then 9pm rolled around and I wasn’t in the Precious Squad to go do the event, so I hit up a PvP room instead, did the easy Bloodstone Fen dailies, then quit.

There’s no Kormir-given right that all the dailies will be great or that we automatically get the rewards. ANet already gives us with a reward for logging in and most of the time, the dailies are trivial. I think it’s okay if a few times a week, ANet asks us to stretch a little.

To get credit for the daily activity, you just have to enter and remain until the end of match (moving occasionally to avoid getting booted for AFK). Takes less time than getting 4 events in Core maps. (Might be exceptionally boring, of course.)

HoT gathering can be done at any guild hall with GMO nodes.

And, sure, some days, there will be 1-2 PvE dailies that you just can’t stomach. In which case, you can skip the dailies or try PvP (custom arenas, where you just have to score any sort of point) or WvW (which include PvE and a vendor purchase options, depending on the day).

“And?” I just spelled out the “and” for this. Getting to Dragon Stand is only half the problem. Ignoring that is just being utterly callous and oblivious. Having Dragon Stand events is worse than having a daily rotation boss, because of how inaccessible they are.
There’s no excuse to yield to bad design just for the sake of being contentious.

Answer: Mu. Your question is wrong.

Also, activities are:

  • player versus player
  • with set, structured skills.
Activities are much more sPvP than any other category. To ignore that is simply being dense for the sake of arguing.

But, to refer to the misguided question of “where does Daily Activity belong: PvE, PvP, or WvW?” The answer is none of them. It belongs in a trash bin of bad ideas. It most closely resembles PvP, but it isn’t, so ANet ought to just drop it and make the Activities rewarding enough on their own.

As someone who usually obtain all or two of all three dailies through PvP, I agree that the old PvE dailies are much better than what they are now. Thanks, I do not want to do adventures. I am not interested in re-doing puzzles I have done before and I most definitely do not memorize their names, so if for any reason I want to do one of these puzzles I have to google where the kitten is it.

I feel bad for people who only do dailies through PvP.

You don’t have to google it. If you click on the description on the daily panel it will bring up the big map and then move what you see over to a waypoint and say it’s near here. After that, just follow the crowd or look for commander or mentor tags.

Why do you feel you need to get the Daily done every day? The only reward for doing 3+ is 2 gold and 10 AP. AP is capped so missing a few days here or there will not really make a huge difference on when you max that out. The other thing is 2 g. I don’t like doing the dailies most days and I haven’t had any issue making gold. And making more of it is actually beneficial to me as I’m working on a legendary.

There are easy PvE like achievements in WvW. There are daily custom arenas in PvP for PvE players to get the PvP dailies (where players play cooperatively, and with the blessing of PvP players as that keeps players that aren’t interested in PvP out of their matches more often).

It takes maybe 30 min to run from VB to DS; likely less. You do not need to do any events in TD in order to gain access to DS.

…Great. You run to Dragon Stand. Then what?

If it’s not 30-minutes before event restart, nothing. That’s what. If you’re not in the bloated LFG squad waiting to do the event, then nothing.

gg, Anet.

And? Their issue was that they did not have access to the map yet.

And please remove activities from the daily PvE rotation. The activities are not PvE.

They are PvE.

Wait, what?

A game activity that is competitive against other players is PvE?

No.

Daily Activity is PvP, it’s just not accessed through the PvP interface.

There are three game modes: sPvP, PvE, WvW. Which one does it fit in? Certainly not sPvP or WvW.

Read their post. I was responding strictly to what they wrote. Whether or not the events can be done solo or having to rely on a group wasn’t part of what we were discussing.

It’s not wrong. There are three game modes. It does not match sPvP. Activities are fun mini games that players could play. just because you compete with other players does not make it any less PvE.

Well, I ran one of my characters to DS (which does not help the other dozen). Whoop. As was observed before, I am not interested in the HOT maps.

PVE = Player Vs Environment

PVP = Player Vs Player

You are specifically competing against other players/teams (did you think those other players are just really good AIs). In at least Sansun Survival they are shooting at you. You get a score at the end. That is no PVE thing I have ever seen where you cooperate with other players, not kill them.

There are three game modes in GW2:

1. PvE
2: sPvP
3: WvW

They don’t fit within the last two game modes. If you don’t like doing them then just don’t do them. It’s that simple.

EDIT:

Not every possible thing that can be made a daily will fit perfectly into those categories. It wouldn’t make sense to have activities in sPvP just as it wouldn’t make sense to have them in WvW. Yes, a lot of the activities have some form of PvP element but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they cannot be included in PvE. There really isn’t anywhere else to put them.

The great thing about the dailies is that we have twelve choices each day or just four if you’re one of the one who prefer to play in only one game mode. It’s unfortunate but you can play however you want to play. Those that choose to limit themselves can even do so further if there are specific achievements within a particular game mode which they do not like and would rather just skip. Activities could be such an example for PvE only players.

There’s nothing that can really be done about this as removing those achievements likely isn’t an option for Anet and adding the total number of choices to choose from each day would diminish their goal with the daily achievements. Yes, the goal hasn’t affected all players but it has for some. There are players trying different things outside of what they normally do simply because there is a daily achievement for it.

If you don’t like any of the achievements, and you don’t want to play in either of the other two game modes, just skip doing the daily for that day. The 2G and three spirit shards just isn’t worth the effort for you that day. It’s not the end of the world and there will be other days.

For those that have no issues with doing dailies across any of the other game modes, your options are even greater. If you’re primarily a PvE players, there are custom PvP rooms that have practically no PvP unless kills or defend happen to be one of the dailies. In that case, there’;s usually a designated point that is used for those two. WvW has several dailies such as the veteran slayer, guards, camps, dolyak, and ruins which don’t really on interacting with enemies to complete.

BTW, can people clarify what they mean by ‘old dailies’? There has been at least 3 systems so it is like saying ‘I want the old LA’. A bit of ambiguity there.

Does the OP want the previous model? The original one?

Aside from the Wintersday activities, they’re all PvP and have no place in PvE, by the very definitions of Player Versus Player and Player Versus Environment.

  1. So, if Daily Activity fits none of the categories, it should not be categorized at all. Give the Activity a once-daily award for participation and leave them off the daily rotation.
  2. With that particularly obvious point aside, there is no point in running to Dragon Stand for daily events if you can’t participate in daily events because no one is doing them. I doubt I can make that point any clearer.

The one-liner defending arguing and not making any valid points says otherwise.

There is no justification to put Daily Activity in PvE based on the type of activity it is. It doesn’t fit into sPvP’s room/lobby/gameplay structure, even though it is PvP and structured. It’s definitely not WvW. It’s silly to force a category on it when none fit.

So, position of upholding Activities-as-PvE is either a pro-ANet kool-aid*, ear-plugging anti-change, or stubbornly arguing without merit to score points.

I love what ANet is trying to do, most times, but I refuse to swallow bad game design decisions and praise them.

All that being said, to address the OP’s (somewhat embittered) point, the PvE dailies are usually pretty breezy. Most often at least two are “gather here” and “vista there,” and quite a few jumping puzzles, which often have benevolent mesmers to zip people to the end anyway.

I still have my arguments with “zone event” dailies in lower level zones, because they don’t often spawn enough events to keep a zerg busy. Bosses on the clock, while much less frequent on the rotation, still require logging in at a very specific time. And the same applies to Dragon Stand, unfortunately. At least with bosses, if you’re in the area, you tag and get credit. With Dragon Stand, you can’t even do that much, so it makes for a poor daily, even if it does promote the zone for participation.

What one liner? The post that you put in spoilers and then declared arguing for the sake of arguing was certainly more than a single line.

There is plenty of justification to put it in PvE which I had mentioned in an earlier post.
