I was a bit taken aback to come back to old Lion’s Arch after so long when I got to that point in the story- when I came through in New LA I kinda thought to myself. “How is this new LA going to fit with the old story?”

Suddenly while listening to Hikari Furu from Kalafina, the giant key change chorus hit as I find myself walking around the city I came to do all my RP’ing in and spending god awful amounts of time with my guildies and spending too much time laughing about how horribly we would want something cool and awesome to happen.

Suddenly Burning LA lol- but I digress.

It was so welcoming to me. The old film grain- the NPC’s- I even had to compare screenshots from back then to the plaza of then- and it’s awesome how they did this for us- even in the sake of the story :’D I wanted so bad to just explore again, just like 3 or so years ago. It might be just a memory in the game now

Thank you Anet- Thank you so much for reminding me how much I actually appreciate this game and all the details you put into us- the Nostalgia trip was wonderful.

While I like being able to see Lion’s Again as it was before that kitten who shall not be named destroyed, I can’t help but feel like it is kind of lazy programming. It isn’t too surprising, though. I mean they could never even fix the Pristixx skillpoint. For those who don’t know, Pristixx is the shark corpse you interact with in Bloodtide Coast. You used to have to fight it to earn the skill point. Unfortunately it kept getting bugged and ‘beached’. Instead of fixing it they just killed it off and made an interact skill point with no fight. Maybe I am just asking for too much by wanting good programming in the games I choose to play.

Give us more GW 1 weapon and armor skins, please. COPY/PASTE ALREADY!!!!

What do you mean by lazy programming?

I’m pretty sure this ‘flash back’ effect is something new they created for the personal story which was added in the last update. Before that they just used whatever the current version of map was – so if you did the story instances during Halloween or Wintersday you got the festival effects, if you did it during the Battle for LA you had Destiny’s Edge and the Orders holding meetings in a burning city.

I’m no expert on programming but it seems to me creating this new system would be more work (and therefore less lazy) than sticking with the one they already had.

It makes sense that they use the old map as your personal story takes place BEFORE Zhaitan is destroyed and BEFORE Scarlett even came into the picture to destroy the old LA. So leaving it the current new LA would make no sense at all….

Now to be on topic: I agree with you OP seeing the old LA recently when doing the PS on a new alt of mine was indeed a nice way to remember the good old days and to bring home the devastation of what really did happen even if it is just a story in a game lol…

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?
