I haven’t been into lore so much, but this is just ridiculous. Whats next? I mean how does this make any sense at all? I know how some of you will answer; “it doesn’kittens just a goofy cosmetic item”. Except its not when it leads to more and more ridiculous things. Its more of a concern over the direction of the company then the actual item.

Well, in the Glider Suggestions thread there was a lot of support for a bubble glider (maybe more for a soap bubble ala Glinda the Good than a water bubble, but still). I don’t recall anyone saying it was a bad or unrealistic idea when it was proposed there.

There isn’t really any lore behind gliders, other than the Pact decided they’d be useful for navigating the jungle.

But considering elementalists, mesmers and other professions can create a whole range of effects with their spells and we know spells can be bound to an object to make them last longer or without the caster actively controlling it I don’t think it’s hard to imagine some people might create bubble gliders, or at least an illusion that makes a glider look like a giant bubble.

It’s certainly no more ridiculous than other things we’ve already got like the Silly Scimitar or armour with floating crystals on it, or of course a bow that shoots rainbow unicorns.

Do the bunny ears fit into the lore either? How about the Hawk wings?

Or the bow that shoots unicorns with an ANet logo on their butt for that matter.

Unrelated to the subject of the OP, but instead related to the content…

…I love trying to figure out what non swear words the filters thought needed to be replaced with “kitten.” It’s becoming a bit of a game for me.

People have been asking for non-conventional winged gliders. So we have this and the e-mag one now. I’m waiting on a ton of balloons but there is a glider suggestion thread here, somewhere.

I love it and my scary dark and gloomy necromancer now floats around the world in his bubble. He just hopes his friends don’t see him.

Don’t think it really fits in with being a glider or fits into the game. Sure you can say it’s like a tempest bubble, but the bubble glider isn’t class bound. So a huge norn guardian can also be flying through the skies in a bubble which looks weird.

Doesn’t really impact my enjoyment of the game in the end though. So let people enjoy their bubbles.

But it doesn’t burst. It just deflates.

It’s just a bit of fun. It’s fine.
And judging from the spike in the gold-gem exchange the glider is very, very popular.

Anyone else notice that last two glider skins have gone up in price from the previous ones? They used to be 400 gems but are now going at 500.

I love that i have a new shinny new bubble for me its fun to see whats next from the dev team and yes its all bubble gum that sticks to your feet. Was fun for a minute or two but then your asking your self WTF.
