Buff Guildwars 2
I do not like the feel of grinding, but I especially do not like the RNG tool. It is really bad. I have been here since the beginning and still to this day I have not found a precursor. Furthermore every meta event they give (Dragon Bash, Winterday, Festival, etc) I would play everyday to try and get the new skins or whatever and would never be lucky enough to find enough “XYZ” before it ends. Then my friend who only plays like once a months gets a precursor and practically everything!
I think the loot is okay, but it is probably because there is nothing I want to buy. Nothing is all that interesting, or it is luck based and not skill based. I rather have weapons that show that I have done what no one else can do. But no, I have a legendary… (seemingly) just like everyone else… yay!
Grinder for WvW, EoM, PvP? I would say no where. It is never fun. I would rather be deceived to think I am not playing an RPG.
I agree that the combat ckittene a lot of changing. I have learned to use my character quite well, then got sloppy because it does not even matter. Now I just face-roll everything… not fun. (and of course if you melee, you basically have a major disadvantage and hardly any reaction time).
I like some of the changes they made, but I am getting worried that soon a lot of the fundamental mechanics will change or simply not be important. This will make only a few viable builds in the game; cookie-cutter classes; no variety; etc. Actually, it already feels like that to a degree.
Your opinion, i dont like it. I LOVE grinding and really wish there was more grind in the game.
And CoF… you expect every dungeon to be or similar quality or scale of hardness? In everygame people look for the easier/faster content they is still rewarding.
Im not going to get a job at McDonalds 3 hours drive away when i have to work for 3 hours when i can just walk for 1 minute to then work at the closest McDonalds for 3 hours.
You obviously want easy content and to not have to work for anything. You dont have to play it if you dont want to.
I think the loot is very very bad. Since my first time to Aether, cost 5 hours to defeat last boss, I break down all the loots. So, I never want to go to Aether any more. Made me so sad.
I have played since beta and I have never had a precursor or any drop of significant value. 2600 hours or so and I am starting to feel that there isn’t much point in continuing to play really

I have to agree. Just tipped 2k hours and still no precursor.

I feel like everyone’s core complaint is that they haven’t received a precursor. Precursors are, to the best of my knowledge, the rarest open world drop (I’m under the impression that the Fractal Tonic is the rarest drop, but that may just be because it’s drop rate is time gated or something). This more or less translates to “I’m really disappointed that I haven’t found one of the rarest, most valuable and desirable drops in the game.” If it was an item that was required to compete, or even gave a slight advantage, then there would absolutely be a problem. Perhaps the population has changed enough that the drop rate should be slightly adjusted to reflect this, and I certainly have ideas how they could improve (in my opinion) the drop system (as a whole, not for precursors) while keeping RNG the core. But that too few players are receiving a prestigious cosmetic item that is used to make an even rarer prestigious cosmetic item (assuming they don’t just sell them), doesn’t sound like a good enough reason for their drop rate to be buffed.
Crafting is designed for gear accessibility, not profit.
Heh, all you guys saying i’ve done 2000 hrs and 2500 hours and no precursor, try me, I’ve done about 6000 hours and no precursor or anything of significance.
I ended up buying mine. I realised i would probably never get one. I was at the Southsun Karka event back in September and i was one of those who got kicked just b4 the boss died and missed out on the precursor chest. I got rewarded by Anet. They send me Karka shell trinket and a 20 slot bag, while some got 2 precursors from the chest and some of those were the free trial people.
I just plodded on, played the game and gathered my mats and gold and when i got enough I bought my Bifrost precursor off the TP. Occasionally threw rares into the MF that i found but ofc no precursor there.
I do feel sad for people trying to get one now, as the prices just keep climbing, but you also have to bear in mind, gold is much easier to get now then it was when i was going for it. It’s all kinda relevant economically.
I mean when the game released, most expensive precursors were 50g but it took u ages to earn even 1g so yea it’s a very expensive item for sure, but it’s supposed to be a long term goal, however that statement is getting a bit thin for people like me who have played since the start every day and still haven’t got one.
I personally don’t mind that I haven’t gotten a precursor drop, mainly because they and the Legendaries they make that would be compatible with my characters don’t fit the “look” that I have for them at all.
As for the grinding, it does get dull after a bit and it disrupts the story pacing when leveling. I do find myself having to take a break after leveling for a an hour or so, but to be perfectly fair I don’t find it nearly as teeth grinding as other games I’ve played.
I wouldn’t mind faster leveling, but I think the difficulty level is fair enough because as long as you have an idea of what you are doing and proper level gear [within 5 levels] you should be fine.
I would be totally fine if there were ways of making did not involve throwing yourself at dungeons run for 4-5 hours a day. I go around doing open world activities and living story content, but my wallet stays literally the same. repair costs never really did really dented my wallet, so the removal of yet another penalty for death and failure (getting really tired of there being no risk involved in this game, but that’s a separate subject), is not affecting me at all. Tbh, in these 2k hours since beta, I’ve never had more than 43g at one time I believe. That was probably when the living story was the Scarlet Army invasion (the one where they invaded several maps and you had to go defend against champions etc..) and there was money to be made from running around the world adventurously rather than cooped up in a dungeon.
I feel another thing that affects people’s want of a precursor so bad is it’s the only drop that is actually framed as something worth money. Any other skin that isn’t worth less than 10g is cash shop based and there’s no way of dropping them. Of course this is excluding the pseudo-legendaries ( but imo if you are going to go through that kind of trouble, you might as well go make a legendary).

I definitely agree they should buff guildwars, dont know about you guys but ive been playing guildwars since 2006 (gw1). During this time, there were 3 breaks of over a year separated in between. There are some serious issues in GW that makes people stop playing, and only come back years later when their friends tell them there’s a lot of new stuff. In general, these changes always involved the same issues, and it has not been getting any better I think.
Areanet should focus on buffing the game to a certain level. What I’m talking about are these symptoms:
-making items more expensive
-making it harder to farm money(making mobs tougher, making rewards crappy)
-changing skills to prevent people (solo or in groups) from using (combinations of ) builds, to grind faster
-changing skills to prevent groups of people from using reportedly good working (combinations of builds) in (wvw/pvp/pve).
not everyone has the 6 hours a day to grind, nor the patience to play for 2 years to get all the good stuff. Its kind of annoying that the max stats can only be achieved by having played for 5 years, and having grinded your life away.
In guildwars1, all max lvl armor, had exactly the same stats. didn’t matter if u paid 25K or 1M, the stats were the same. That totally worked, why change?.
Just imagine, areanet adds 2 expansion packs in a few years. You’ll have to spend more time grinding than enjoying the game, since you wouldn’t get the new unknown unique items anyway.
Another thing is PvE. I remember, a couple of years back, getting money by spending time adventuring around and doing missions/events/quests. Since the economy has gotten a lot worse, there should be a buff to make PvE at least like, a little profitable.

i agree a little bit of challenge is a good thing but repetition is one of The mmos bane where you need to repeat the same pattern to gain higher level items and skills. we can see that GW is no different the problem is you cant have end content thats not grindy else every one gets the items (which i have no problem with btw) and you cant make it too challenging for nothing… guild wars fails at the latter. they don’t add challenge to their dungeon correctly. i notice people trying to skip fights because their annoying rather than fun fight. there is no point of guilds other than the dead Wvw (at least on my server, people grinding EotM). guild missions are one thing and they work but their one activity and i dont cound world bosses (another grind). personally i would like to see more structured Wvw but thats not gonna happen with the current system. for the grind i hope they remove it and make a challenging experience where few people can do for higher level items.
