What’s the deal with all the massive bugs in this game? GOTY? Really?

Today was a total letdown for level 80 PVE – Balthazar event bugged out three times in a row; group gave up on it and decided to just run other random group events in Orr… guess how many we’ren’t bugged? No, not how many were stuck and bugged out, that list would be too long. We found about four that were actually in a working state.

So, decided to do some instances. Oh my, during a CoF run, the bomb-run event got failed because a newer player didn’t work quite fast enough/got killed/etc… so we restart. BUGGED. Stuck. NPC won’t accept any bombs. Group disintegrates. What a relaxing weekend afternoon and evening! Argh my sarcasm-gland just exploded.

Can we please get some serious effort at maintaining basic functionality of the end game content?

If it we’ren’t for WvW, I’d have deleted my chars and left already…

That would be a lot more comforting if many of the progress-blocking bugs were recent developments. They aren’t. The game’s closing in on five months since release and a lot of the most severe bugs, including the ones the OP mentions, have been around that entire time.

Usually, people who say that have a terrible taste in games but that’s just coming from me. I mean, GOTY awards are meant for games that are fun to play. I find Skyrim fun to play, GW2 even. Still have no clue why you’d say that though.

Give a man fire, he will be warm, set a man on fire, he will be warm forever! …or dead…

I have found GW2 pretty light on bugs, especially for a newly released MMO. WoW had more back when I played it. W:AR was just terrible.

As for non-MMOs, games like Skyrim, Fallout, Diablo were full of bugs. Skyrim still crashes way more often than GW2, and there are still some broken quests years after the release.

Not that any number of bugs is a good thing.

Skyrim was buggy because of the immense amount of stuff going on behind the scenes.
Including quests that still played out, remembering important characters who you killed, random dragon scripting, and of course, ALL. DAT. LOOTZ.

GW2’s complexity is childs play when held up against Skyrim’s complexity.

Step into the class subsection of the forums, and you’ll see that the bugs are not obvious, in your face bugs, (apart from the culling issue in WvW) but there are a lot to do with class skills, effects, incorrect timers on util skills and trait skills (look up the video on the “pets run xx% faster” patch test – and you’ll see what i mean)
