I think it could help a lot. We could have an Out of combat loadout kind of set up, where for weapons you can have a 2nd or 3rd weapon equipped, but once combat starts, the weapon is unequipped, and when you have the out of combat weapon equipped, you can’t target enemies or do any damage, and all boons/effects gained from that weapon are removed upon combat. This could also work with armor to some extent but there isn’t much that armor helps with outside of combat besides speed/traveller/centaur runes.
In addition, if you want to switch out the out of combat weapon/armor set(Or armor pieces) for one of your combat weapons, you can do that with the click of a button(Or inside a certain interface) instead of searching for the gear in your inventory. Which saves time, and for classes like elementalist, it just saves hassle.
The also would work for utilities and traits, so you don’t have to worry about using a skill that would only benefit you for mobility, like all of the 25% movement boosts, and with weapons, for example on guardian, you can have an out of combat staff equipped and be able to keep up perma swiftness and not worry about losing damage when you engage in a fight.
I think this would make a lot of people happier, and from what I see, revenant, and Mesmer especially are very slow, unless you go out of your way to get swiftness skills.
Feedback is appreciated, it would be nice to know how this could improve, though I don’t see many problems with the idea.
So you would be able to change builds quickly in a dungeon or something, and you can get around faster without having to go change everything whenever you fight something.
Personally, my weapons sometimes show up on vendors to sell which is really unnerving, and im scared I’ll sell them, and for classes like guardian, I run a medi guard, and my engineer isn’t specced into speedy kits so i go quite slow. Also for elementalist, in wvw i switch from staff to d/d and seeing how i have a lot of daggers in my inventory and I can get jumped very quickly without time to switch, this build feature would be exceedingly helpful.
