I used to play GW1, and one feature I loved was the ability to map out a build (this included traits, armor, and weapon sets) and save it. This way, whenever we needed a particular build for a specific area, or mission, or dungeon, all we needed to do was to open the Hero panel and switch builds at two clicks of the mouse.

Does anyone else feel that ANET should consider bringing that feature back? I think it made swapping builds super easy and convenient. =)

I like me my Eles. =)

I agree. I’ve been really wanting to at LEAST be able to save my trait build. If they wanted to I wouldn’t mind if they gave us only two build save slots and allowed us the ability to buy more build save slots the way they do bags. They have to make money after all. Either way… this is a must, I mean… isn’t it!? The trait system is pretty deep compared to others and there are a lot of different routes and options you can take. Then when you have a different build for WvW, dungeons (on an individual basis sometimes), Fractals and PvP (even though you can save that separately)… it gets really difficult to remember your builds specifically and you have to rely on third party resources. I give your post a +1

This was asked for in betas, at release, a year after release, and now, by literally every GW1 player.

It’s not gonna happen, ever.

Why? ’Cause ANet.

ALL IS VAIN.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in all MMOs.
Stop failing at PvE, and fix WvW/SPvP. Thank you.

In the video when they introduced the “new” PvP build feature etc. they also stated, that they will use this system for future expansion like build saving etc. Most likely comes with the next feature patch… or so

I mean, it’s normal to take 24 Months and more to program these things. And ANET is a programmer company, so they will know how to do it best and fast!

I played GW1 and loved it, I play GW2 and love it.

But I really wish I had this build template management system, both to easily link and share builds but also to make it easier for myself to swap different styles in the various game modes.

I agree this would be a welcome addition. I have five chars at 80 and use them all in both WvW and PvE. So minimum two builds each. Some i want in zerg sometimes and roaming somtimes so add yet another build. I’m ….older… and can’t remember all the builds so have them saved, written down, here there and everywhere. I can imagine the chaos if people have 10 chars or more. This kind of feature would be a huge QOL improvement.

I would support it. I liked the old trait system better then what we have now. Seems to take longer to click, select yes that I know I am spending points, then go and scroll for the traits I want. Saving builds for simple clicks would be a welcome addition to the game, much like it was in GW1

I would love this so, so much. Particularly now that trait refunds are both free and doable any time outside of combat, there’s no reason not to have this convenient feature. At the very least, I’d use this to save a pve build and a wvw build immediately.

If I could find it, I do believe a Dev said this would be the next step. At least for traits. The problem is trying to make it fit into the program.

when there’s a delay on this stuff, i always imagine they’re trying to figure out how to make the most money off of it

wouldn’t surprise me at all if you had to buy template slots either on an account wide basis like the bank or per character like bags

I also agree to adding template system into the game like they had with gw1 but I don’t agree with having to buy template slots for something that is more of a convenience then anything. Right now I have builds saved in a folder with text docs for different classes and I just have links to websites where the builds are saved. If you remember back in gw1 the templates you had where saved on your pc in your gw1 folder under templates not on the servers they can still do the same thing in gw2 without charging you for a template slot or anything. Also with how anet seems to mess things up at times I would rather have the templates saved on my pc then their servers.

also I have a post I made a little over a week ago on how they can do the template system in gw2 for pve and pvp build with a picture of how I think it would look in game for making a build to save to a template

I know right?! Lol… I remember managing all those text files as well. It was fun. Those cheesy solo-farm Eles and Monks back then. Those were the days. =)

I guess we can only hope that they figure out the build template soon. I don’t think they would charge us for it (I hope).
