Guild Wars 2

Are we ever going to get Build Templates, like we had in GW1? I really miss being able to create a bunch of different builds to see what worked well, and being able to save them to a template for instant use (as opposed to standing around for several minutes, readjusting my build every time I want to switch it up a little)

I would probably have been doing WvW for months now if this were an option, but every time I think about trying it, I just don’t want to change my build.

I still have hope that this feature will make it in sometime in the future, but I’m rather annoyed it hasn’t been there from the start. Did nobody think of it? Or did they actually find a reason not to do it that outweighed this supreme convenience?

I believe they were considering build templates for PVP. Some of the best builds in PVP do not require constant major skill changes. An update would be nice, but is not particularly dire.

I remember from back before the game started, but can’t find the quote now, (it’s gone with the internet winds) a statement where one of the Devs said they wanted people to be attached to their builds. For the builds they had to be personally important to them. (I don’t remember the exact words they used but it was to that effect). This stuck in my memory because i was playing Guild Wars 1 at the time and had a bunch of builds I used and builds copied off of ones pinged in chat. I thought it was strange that they would be making it so restrictive and didn’t realize people would want to switch around according to what they were doing.

If my memory is correct then that explains why no templates and why it was so difficult to easily change traits for quite some time and also why they made armor stats so restrictive compared to Guild Wars 1.

+1 i want this feature back as well, it was so much easier to just save and load templates rather than go and see which skills/traits weps you need to use in certain meta…

I would certainly do more WvW and maybe even use different builds if they added build templates. As it is now I just can’t bother to constantly switch between traits.
