Build Updates Annoying
No, I don’t. If you are in an instance, you have an hour. If not, then it’s not really a problem for me. I’d rather they do updates, than let things go for 2 weeks.
There’s no pleasing you, is there ?
Seriously is this even a complain? Even this?
There were critical bugs with instancing and guesting that had to be fixed.
Other MMOs require a 30 min server downtime for build updates/ patches … and you complain that you have to relog?
More to the point, build updates means stuff gets fixed. Try playing older MMOs that no longer have support where that doesn’t happen. Those people have good reason to complain.
I love the way Arenanet manage the updates and releases. So much better than a down time for 2 -3 hours, 2 -3 days a week, which always seemed to coincide with EU playing times, that I’ve experienced in most (if not all) of the other MMOs I’ve played.
There was 2 or 3 today, given that apparently were or critical bug related I’m wondering what’s happening with internal testing.
I don’t know your PC specs and your internet connection, but for me it takes about < 1 min to update the smaller updates. So, really no big issue.
‘would of been’ —> wrong

Nothing. It’s as unreliable as it’s always been.
In all Mmo that I played I normally experienced 1-3hrs downtime either doing maintenance or updates(every week). Anet rarely do this and sometimes they’re even doing maintenance while game is up.

There is always issues that turn up when going from testing-servers to live. No matter how much you test it.

=) No I think I can do without a few minutes of GW. No problem here.
If I have to choose between 1-6 hours of server downtime or a relog, I choose a relog.
The very first thing I noticed when I started playing GW2 was the incredibly competent way updates were handled. The game I used to play, every new update or patch required hours of downtime. And then I start playing this one, and it just lets me keep playing for up to an hour and then I just switch to the patched version at my leisure? I was shocked.
Once again, people will complain about ANYTHING.

Ditto. First few times I went through the patching experience here I was like "Is this for real? No downtime? SERIOUSLY? "

Exactly!
I really don’t miss those “servers will be down from 15:00 to 22:00 (local time)” messages every patch day. :P
Any one else find the Build Updates that force you to log out annoying?
I can understand that changes are necessary but I get these build updates (two in three hours) that cause me to stop what I am doing and get to a safe spot.
First world problems?
This is not even a first world problem. It’s an “I wish I lived in an imaginary universe where software never has bugs” problem.
I agree with the OP that there should be a down time like 165 hour down time a week to work out the bugs. BTW that is sarcasm in case ppl cat tell.

I agree.
But concerning the updates to the client I would really like to see a small modification to the launcher. Give it the option to run in Windows tray and have the option to dynamically update GW2 so that it`s always up to date so that when one plans to sit down it`s ready to play.
A friend of mine use to play another big MMO and said it use to download the updates in the background while playing and apply dynamically.
Our clan has lost a lot of active members because a majority swore at the way updates are handled…

It isn’t like these happen often. Patch days (once every two weeks, sometimes longer) and as somebody mentioned, in an instanced run at least they give you an hour. Minor inconvenience at best for a much needed and appreciated fix or add in most cases.
