Burl Orichalcum Ring/Earring
Was it exotic? Most exotics are soulbound on use.
Edit: wiki says they’re account bound when crafted

I’m most likely stupid, or just feel really stupid right now.
I took the time to farm the Burl Orichalcum recipes. I have one level 400 Jeweler. I made the ring and earring to give to my Mesmer. I spend the time to get resources (which wasn’t all that long compared to the farming) craft the piece and then SOULBOUND. What the hell Anet! Where was the warning that the piece would be soulbound. I can deal with account bound all day long, but soulbound. This just stupid.
This will sound completely entitled, but I’m kind of ticked, I want time and any gold I spent back. It wasn’t much, but I’m kittened off that in order to gear my character it has to be gated behind crafting when I already have a character that can do the crafting. FIX THIS.
(yes, I am being a whiny entitled kitten, but that is what the forums are for
)
I don’t think you are being whiny or entitled if the items became Soulbound when you created them. Looking at the Wiki, it states that the earring should be Account Bound.
However if you equipped them on your Jeweler, then they definitely will become Soulbound. All Exotics I’ve seen become Soulbound on Equip.
They were never equipped. They were crafted. I did upgrade them, but do so in the inventory. They were never equipped.
Assuming “I did upgrade them” means that you put a new upgrade component in them, then when you upgraded them, a box popped up that said
Upgrading the item will make it Soulbound to you.
Upgrade/ Cancel
So…. you soulbound it when you upgraded it.
Guess I missed it…. like I said I might be stupid. Suppose I am :/
I can live with that. I suppose

Ah, well. Mistakes happen.
Back at launch I crafted a whole set of rare armor for a friend, put upgrades in it and completely ignored each warning that the upgrade would soulbind the armor.
Expensive mistake back then, lol. (As well as embarrassing)
ANet may give it to you.
Why don’t you get the ascended rings/earrings from the LS3 maps instead?

There was a point where applying an upgrade only made it account bound and then only soulbound when the item was equipped. The warning dialog about being soulbound was always there. I am not sure why they decided to go with that fix when the other approach seems more sensible.

AFAIK, it’s always worked this way. You can upgrade fine items without soulbinding them; only masterwork and higher become soulbound

That worked for things all the way up to exotics until it got fixed.
