ANET can we please take a look at the burning damage? This condi alone is stupidly broken…It’s seriously not fun to play against and I would assume MANY others have the same complaint about it. People are using this exploit. I would strongly consider looking at the scaling of burning. I normally wouldn’t complain about it, but in hindsight when you fight 3-4 burn build guardians per PvP match, it gets a bit ridiculous.

Are you seriously saying because the damage is, at the level it’s been re-tuned to be at is an exploit ?

We all agree that burning currently is strong, but something being strong doesnt make it an exploit….What’s hard to understand about that ?

You see condition=>you cleanse it.Problem resolved.Every good build have some quality/kind:1)Damage(direct/condi/mix) 2)Getting dps boons 2)Survive ability :a)condition cleanse b)breakstuns c)dodges d)Boons for survive etc. So when you creating a build=>you balance all this things and many others for you role .All what you need for winning condi guard=>its remove conditions 1-2 times when he try to burst you down.P.s.Its not even close to be OP.

It’s not an exploit. An exploit is when the players figure out a way to break the game by using a mechanic ina one way the devs did not intend. Burning is clearly a bit too strong right now, but that doesn’t make applying it with skills and traita intended to apply burning an “exploit.”

I main Ele and Necro, though I have an alt of each profession at level 80.
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.

What if I told you that most condi-cleanses are on a 15+sec cooldown, while burning is easily reapplied by tons of aoe-fields and passive procs.

And what if I also told you that most condi-cleanses only clean one or two conditions, while burning is easily covered up by longlasting cripples, bleeds, poisons and vulnerabilities, which are widely accessible on most classes.

Burning is ridiculous to the point that 4/5 death breakdowns have burning at the top with anything between 40-60k damage, followed by something else with 5k.

Then by the same logic.. We can say all the high DPS you’ve been doing is an exploit and should be looked at/nerfed.
Just cos something does high damage on purpose doesnt make it an exploit… Take a condi cleanse.. if you’re in pvp which is my guess… a condi cleanse – at least one is a must.

While Burning is a bit OP right now, I wouldn’t call it an exploit. Hopefully either its damage is nerfed or access to burning by Guards, ele, and other classes is reduced (along with bleeds being buffed)

Yeah burning is definitely too strong right now. I’m pretty dissapointed that ANet hasn’t fixed it yet, but I’m being optimistic and hoping that they are incredibly busy making the expansion amazing, rather than just ignoring balance in pvp/wvw

Burning is just slightly above where it should be. They could easily change the formula from (0.155 * Condition Damage) + 131.5 to (0.125 * Condition Damage) + 131.5

This would bring it back in line to being slightly better than where it was prior to the 23rd trait rework patch.

Anet puts a new in game mechanic that sets up stacking for conditions which you some how came to the conclusion of it being an exploit.

The way in which something is done or operated; the practicalities or details of something.

But on the serious side. Its does a lot of dmg but at the end of the day its a single condi that you can remove ALL stacks off with a single condi cleanse.

The condition itself needs less baseline and a touch more on the scaling modifier. Might needs a nerfing again which will help with less Burning output in general. For Guardians, they actually need more active Condi output on weapons skills and less on the block traits. Ele’s need duration reduction, especially on the signet! On Mesmer, burning needs to be completely removed. The rest of the professions aren’t too bad with burning right now.

The scaling coefficient itself is part of the problem being that it is really just absurdly high, compare it to any other condition and you’ll notice why. Toning that down would be the first step in the process. Then you can hit the per-case basis by toning down the duration as needed. That doesn’t actually help as much for power builds as you believe.

Might itself is fine. The sources in which you gain might may need to be looked at in a PvE sense but otherwise might isn’t in dire need of a numerical nerf.

Guardian can only use burning natively…

If you have a little condi cleanse you do not have any problems…

Saying burning is OP is very simple… trying to figure out what to do to counter as well… most stacking burning is in fields.

Just get out of the circles… DONE.

I have more problems with engineers, necro’s and mesmers stacking 4-8 conditons in a short window of time causing removal to be difficult.

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

a blanket -25% scaling and +33% duration for burning wouldn’t be out of line, i don’t think. That keeps the overall damage similar/same but spreads it out over longer (also making it more vulnerable to cleanse, incidentally)

I don’t think the bleed scaling nerf that came with the stack cap removal was warranted. If anything i think bleed should be boosted up a hair – and sigil of earth needs a revisti, right now its only purpose is to enable power builds that can trait for +% damage vs bleeding targets.

Please remember that guardians are not the only ones who use burning. My ranger can’t outburn a guard but if they took that burn damage away from me I would be seriously disappointed. And I played like this before condis got buffed (not in dungeons, don’t worry).

Change cooldowns on guards or whatever but don’t nerf burning globally, please.

OMG this, over 9000+ times this!

So many people are like, “Bring Condition Cleanses”, those skills/traits don’t help much past clearing the initial wave of conditions, and most of the time only clear a few of the low key ones, leaving the stronger ones like burning still on…
