Can those who already have HoT buy with gems?

No, they have stated that expansions will never appear in the gemstore. The best you can hope for is to be able to upgrade from standard to deluxe with gems.

you can upgrade HoT standard to HoT deluxe via gemstore.

you will be able to upgrade PoF standard to PoF deluxe via gemstore.

you cannot purchase expansion via gemstore.

You can upgrade HoT with gems. (standard edition HoT to deluxe edition HoT) This is a completely seperate thing from PoF though. PoF is not an upgrade. It is an expansion. Even if you have HoT you will have to pay for PoF with real money.

If you buy PoF standard version (with money, because I want to stress that this is the only method to do so) you may upgrade THAT expansion with gems.

If PoF expansion is buyable with gem… that would be neat

If they made expansions accessible with gems, the expansions would essentially be free for people who wanted to grind gold.
It’s not an economically viable solution. The expansions are guaranteed sales. You NEED to spend money to get them. With gems, if you want to grind and exchange, you can.

If you purchased PoF standard edition, you can upgrade to Deluxe for 2,400 gems, I believe.

You cannot buy PoF with gems.

The entire reason that ANet releases expansions is to collect our dollars (or pounds or euros) to pay for future content. That doesn’t happen if some of us buy with gems.

Awesome. Hope you get as much fun out of PoF as many of us have from core and HoT. Thanks for the update.

Bought standard, will probably buy deluxe if the Pass is worthwhile. I like the outfit but have found myself never actually wearing the ones I buy, so we’ll see.
