I have been playing for less than a year.

I have found a few items on the TP that net a great roi when salvaged. Tonight I noticed 12 of these items have new buy orders for over 1 silver of mine. These are items that I have had the top spot in for months. IMO….there’s no reason to bid 1 silver over the previous highest bidder. And when really looking at it, these higher bids are barely breaking even, if at all.
Bah…not looking for anything from this. Just frustrated. Doesn’t make sense to me

Placing buy orders costs nothing. Simply place new buy orders 1 copper higher than those who outbid you. Problem solved.

Well it won’t, because as he said, at that price the “great roi” has turned into “barely breaking even, if at all”.

Well, someone else has noticed there’s money to be had, but calculated badly, or made a basic mistake (outbidding by 1s, not 1c). Happens.
All you can hope for is for those bids to get eventually filled, and not replaced (due to no gain).
Unless of course that someone knows something you don’t, and is, in fact, doing better than just breaking even.

Actions, not words.

Maybe they are not trying for a ROI, but to just break even? If this is the case they just found a way to gain unlimited luck without losing money.

The avg salvage of items also =/= 1 material. Different weapons and armors salvage to different numbers of materials on average. For example greatswords on average salvage to more materials than daggers.

It’s also possible someone just wants to buy those items. (Although depending on what they are that may be too much of a coincidence.)

When I’m buying equipment to use rather than to salvage I’ll often pay a bit more to make sure my bid stays the highest for a little while instead of being outbid by TP flippers, salvagers etc. It’s usually still cheaper than buying it out-right and it means I get my item quicker instead of waiting for the price to drop back down.
