I want to buy a second account and not have it tied to this email, because I already have an account tied to it… How do I buy another account and make sure that the login credentials go to another email, etc. I’ve never done this before.

I want to make sure when it asks for login email that I have to use another one… because otherwise it wouldn’t work, right?

It will need a different email from your main account when you register it. You can buy it and have the purchase information go to your new email or your regular email. It’s at the time of registering yourself as the account owner is when you set the email that will be the login email. (That is how people can gift an account and the other person sets up their email).

I bought a second acount. Double the laurels, dailies and mystic coins. But not much else

I was one of those lucky souls to get my primary account locked out shortly after the game launched. I had multiple accounts in GW1 so was fairly certain that I would in GW2, so went ahead and “brought another account over from GW1.” Good thing, since it took quite a while for support to get to me. So I paid full price for that account.

Since then, I added accounts each time they went on sale prior to HoT’s launch (were they $10?), then I bought a core account cheap on Amazon after HoT, so now have five.

It does divide my time somewhat, even though I do focus on my primary account, so that is a negative. But I get 5X login rewards, can harvest 5X a day, sometimes do dailies 5X a day, and when a festival comes around, I can do those 1/day things 5/day. I’ve made some good coin during the new year celebration (hello lucky envelopes).

I don’t buy any gems or otherwise upgrade those four accounts at all. Any extra gold and non-account bound goodies go to the main account. Excess dyes and minis get passed down in order of oldest to newest, so right now the newest account has some fairly boring dye choices.

It helps that I have two computers in the office, so can easily get the alt accounts into my home instance, or do FE and such with two. You know… 1-1-1-1-1-1-1.

I recently bought a 2nd account for 1/day crafting items, PvP potions, & WvW potions for my guild hall. I just created a 2nd email address and used that for the 2nd account. I mail mats from my primary account for crafting the 4 ascended mats every day.

To play PvP with my guildies and not worry about facing legendary rank opponents with them being in saphire lol

I’m considering a 2nd account. Mainly for extra login rewards but also so I can play on the NA servers without getting frustrated by the restrictions on my free account.

Since I just got paid and the sale has brought HoT down to a reasonable price for me I may just do it. Just need to decide if I’m going to upgrade that free account or make a new one.

• Main: carolbrady@bbunch.fam
• Alt: carol.brady@bbunch.fam

GW2 will treat them as unique account names; most email servers will consider them to be the same account (i.e. the period is ignored).

In deciding whether to upgrade a free account or start a new one: I can’t think of any major advantage to doing so. Unless you plan on having two ‘main’ accounts, you’re going to play your original as much as possible and spend as little time on the alt as suits your purposes. Starting a third account increases how much time you need to devote to the alt(s).

It’s a trickier question for those who have a core account. The same reasoning above applies, but the advantages of the third account are much more substantial now: five new character slots (instead of just three), a third bank, a third account that can send/receive gold & operate the TP. The advantages of upgrading are reduced, since your original alt already has access to all of core Tyria, login rewards, and dailies.

Most of the rewards etc become account bound so having another account doesn’t even help in that way. But, if you want the other account just so you can go in and farm more stuff and dailies that you then sell off to send the gold to your main acct… I guess you could do that… lol.. or you could just buy gems and convert them.

why ppl only play 1 account? 3 accounts 3x more gold farming at Octovine. How much gem/gold can u buy with $20? not much u can farm that $20 back in 1 week with 2nd account.

Its not like I can run several copies of the game simoultaneously.
But I agree that a second acount does make its own worth pretty quick. Even just a month of laurels and mystic coins pays well

And you only need the core game for that. Find it on Amazon for cheap — just make sure it is a new copy, not used.

When I looked earlier today (on UK Amazon) the core game on it’s own, new was about £14. HoT on sale is £17.49. So yes it is cheaper, but only a little bit. For me it’d be worth buying HoT instead.
