Buying gold
Incoming Quaggans [iQ]
Of course someone from Arena Net responds to a topic about gold… while ignoring every other important thread. Lovely!
If they could fix the bugs by posting on the forum, the would likely love it to post a lot

Or no posting at all like they do, sounds reasonable.
The short answer is that any exchange of real money for gold is prohibited. You are, however, permitted to buy gems with your $25 and exchange those gems on the currency exchange for gold.
But what if a friend/family member wanted to gift someone an amount of gold that might trigger the ban system? I’ve been considering buying a copy for my oldest son and would probably send him 50-100g to get him started. Should, perhaps, a support ticket be put in beforehand to notify ANet so the transaction does not get flagged as a gold-buyer/seller?

those gold-buyer sellers sends several emails with gold, you in the other hand only going to do it once.

You might consider perusing the Bugs sub-forum; Devs are posting there (and acknowledging) as we speak.
Good luck.
Ok, I have been playing some mmos for quite a bit, and I would like to show you an example of what could happen if people buy from RMT sites even if the devsare breaking their kitten trying to stop it.
Final Fantasy XIV, a subscription based mmo where a lot of ppl seem to buy gold from rmt sites and no one seems believe it’s an issue.
You get spammed on the world chat, normal chat, whispers, from those sites, and the most common response on the forum is “just mute them” or “mute the whisper on chat”
Square Enix, bans at least 4k accounts per week.
But you know, they won’t stop trying because the playerbase WANTS to keep buying.
I do understand that there’s a rumor about SE only banning those rmt accounts when they feel like it, or whatever. But the point is, keeping those creeps away from flooding the chat, mail, etc, is not as simple as the devs taking care of it, the player cooperating on creating a healthy community is important, as important as to buying some gems on the store if you want to support the devs and their work on Anet.
PS: I love Final Fantasy XIV but I honestly quit because of the community taking the rmt so lightly, i know it’s a stupid excuse, but they were (in smaller numbers) even in the Heavensward expansion.

Please, Developer… do not get me wrong I’m not a gold buyer but spare me some decency and the rest of us with the Rules of Conduct. I know the Rules of Conduct very well as you drill them in to us every time you NERF ways of making gold easily.. not to say the game should be an easy game to acquire shiny’s but how can you have a go at us, YOUR customers for seeking third-partys to acquire something you, the developers, are making harder and harder to acquire each and every kitten patch?
GIVE US A BREAK WITH YOUR RULES OF CONDUCT and give us ways to make PROPER GOLD.
I’m really irritated with you developers, you bring out such a fantastic game and expansion, I command every time Night Time is up in VB, acquire 200% participation and yet.. the reward is this:
- An Exotic Loot Bag (CONTAINING 2 BLUE ITEMS AND !!!!!A!!!!!! MATERIAL)
- A Rare Loot Bag (CONTAINING 1 BLUE + 1 GREEN)
- 5 Pact Crowbars (which the Airship Cargo only drop.. oh wait for this.. blues and greens)
And to top it all off, I require 4.1Million Experience towards my next Mastery.. I get 16k as an award. Now please Developer, tell me why is this game becoming more like World of Warcraft, I read a post you lot made about "this game will not become, “have to do the raid to stay raid relevant”.." well I have to bloody see the actual rewards outside of the raid to see the raid as being bloody useless doing!!
Start doing something about the reward systems you have in place, then maybe players wouldn’t have to result to illegal means to actually have a decent chance of enjoying this game.
Opinions are opinions so I expect hate. I’m just stating an opinion on top of my current experience and the same experience I’ve had throughout my entire play-time here in GW2.

Ahhh, OK. Thanks. Ya, it would be a one time deal, just so he could avoid the initial gearing/WPing frustrations. He’s used to playing my veteran 80s, so I think starting completely from scratch with no money at all might be a little too much for his fragile patience. Kids today have no patience at all. :P
Hey everybody, we’re locking this thread since the OP’s question has been answered.
