CAN I JUST PLAY THE GAME ALREADY???????
Perhaps MMOs are not the games for you. All MMOs, and most online multiplayer games have regular updates to keep things running smoothly, and to add new features. This is just the way things are.
GW1 really doesn’t have updates anymore, which is why you do not have to update often.
I would suggest either getting better internet, or trying a single player game that requires less updates.
Sorry.
Leader of Looking For Gandalf [LFG]
Worst Commander of Ferguson’s Crossing (Self Proclaimed)
Guild Wars 1 no longer has updates. That may be why you can log into it faster.
Edit: There is no one at your home who can turn on the computer and update the game for you occasionally?
ANet may give it to you.
Try not to worry, you’re not missing much.
Driving a truck is probably more exciting, frankly.
Sounds like your internet sucks, not Anet’s update process.
It’s one of the things Anet has done exceptionally well from the start.
You don’t want to see what the game would be like if ANET wasn’t pushing out bug fixes as quickly as they currently are.

Hot is far from being a clean release and yes you can play MMO’s OTR.
Driver I hate to break it to ya but this will probably continue for awhile till they get all the kinks out. Till then keep putting those yardsticks in your back pocket and keep the shiny side up.
Updates are your friends. Unless they bring nerfs…
Windows Scheduler – every night it turns on my PC, runs the update and shuts down again.
Use streaming client once you are in game (Press F11 and hit Streaming Client to idle or max on drop down menu).
I have a rather fast connection (50 mbit) and the game downloads very fast – usually 5-6 MB/s. I never wait longer than 5 mins. They did a very good job with this.
‘would of been’ —> wrong

That’s a fantastic idea. Would you consider describing how you set that up?
I drive a truck. Sometimes I am sittting where there is no signal. So running scheduler every night not feasible most of the time. And yes I have a mobile hotspot. Does not rule out no signal, or lousy signal.
But thanks for letting vent anyway guys.
