Guild Wars 2

Now I might have missed it, or it might have been for other parts of the game, but wasn`t there a continuation to the CDI announced?

When will the CDI come back?
Is it planned, or did (insert fitting reason here) took more time and energy than anticipated?

The last mentioned of it is around four or five months ago if i am not mistaken and while I know that they are certainly busy with the LS2 and there comming break, but I liked this step forward to the community.

With it (presumeably) gone for so long, It feels like we are going into:
“lets release some stuff and see how they react, if not let`s ask again”

even though it should have been something that was supposed to go in tandem, evolving with another and not in turns.

I know It demands a lot of effort and time by the devs to participate here, but as we have seen, there are several community members willing to help out.
On the other hand, there are still a lot of topics to talk about, which feel neglected the longer the break ends up and how much the game changes n the meantime.

LS2 is a great effort so far, but not without flaws. Be it writing or implemented systems.
I know you read the comments and value the feedback, but it is all back to the old normal forum dvelling. “Complain and hope it get`s noticed”

While I see some devs chiming in from time to time, there is rarely some “dialog” and while there moght be follow ups to a dev comentary, they are often left in the dust.

It is messy and unstrucktured and I think we ascended upon that with the more focused direction of the CDI. It added a great second professional layer to the usual “forum talk”.

can you maybe elaborate on what CDI even is? i hate when people just use abbreviations without even explaining them..

CDI were focused discussions on the forums between Anet and fans, with the idea of discussing the form upcoming updates should take.

We’ve had several focused CDIs on different topics. Fans posted comments. Devs, usually Chris Whiteside replied and some of the info from those threads went back to the devs working on it.

The new living story journal probably came from ideas with the CDI. It stands for Collaborative Development Initiative.

This sounds much like what it would be if the forums had a community manager which is a good idea for feedback. In this case yeah i also want more CDI

I liked the CDI’s as well, my guess is they’ll do it again near the end of the season, like last time. Or maybe later, since a huuuge number of useful suggestions came up in the last one (and that’s just the parts I read, from the summaries), some of which I noticed already being in the new season.

It’s of course always a guess if those features (like the new story journal) truly came from our CDI suggestions and not from ideas they already had in mind, but it was nice to see them coincide and implemented anyways.

Nowadays the comunity managers have a new thing and let big comunitys work for them. They meet 1x per week (or 14 days?) in big comunity ts with leaders from Comunitys or big guilds for 1 hour and let them tell all the problems they have.

They do? Was that officially announced?
If so it is nice to have, but still very confined, exlusive and does not allow for a good discussion.

There is no time to talk it through, there is no time to formulate… I do not see that as anything that would be able to replace the CDI

i know only bout the german one and Ramon Domke(german comunity manager) meet with people from Wartower.de, gw2ts, leaders from big guilds and alot other big german comunity sites ….

this people ask and talk and filter in there comunitys for 2 weeks bout a thema and than tell the results the comunity manager and this guy to arenanet

last was bout WvW and WvW-Guilds i think and bout Living story

havent heard much about in in NA, but i dont really associate with large guilds. Also they may figure their interactions with NA through twitch and FB etc are good enough

When was the last time Chris Whiteside even posted on the forums?

Edit: Just looked him up- it was about 3 months ago, probably verging on 4, at this point.
