Hi there. I know about all rage of you there. I also feel for you, myself, that we had to have so much rage, angry and game-affecting negative emotions only becasue of few numbers. Seriously, everything is just about few numbers. Create something so bad between people just for stupid numbers.
Plseas, listen to me and think about it. ANET- You can find compromise, go back to some GW1 legacy and still give players more progression and content. There is simple solution for it. I know, and understand, you want to keep players with you. Your old buddies from GW1, new ones, that came here for non-grind MMO, and more hardcore players that need progression to feel they are enjoying game.
Why do you try to choose between more casual and more grind players. Couldnt you try to give all of them something? Have you even thought about it? I dont belive you didnt expect this sort of reaction. 4 days ago everything was great, we were waiting for new event, balance and game changes etc. Now evrything is a mess just because of one, small stupid idea. Stats diffrence.
My COMPROMISE is- make Ascended Gear SAME stats as Exotics or boost exotics to Ascended Gear stats. Simple. Leave the rest, add the rest. Thats all. Just change numbers. No big patches, nothing. Simple solution to do it. With stats is the same as with professions. First time you create them- you give them some stats etc. By the time you change it, nerf it, boost it, balance it. So I tell you ANET- just balance it. And I will tell you why it will please everyone. Becasue game is for everyone- at least GW2 are or was. Up to you.
Ascended Gear is needed for new dungeos, new content, and I assume, future new events. New Agony system need it. So still you have new dungeos, new content, more challengind dungeons, and better drop rate there and new skin for those who want to be more elitist “I have full Ascended Gear, rarest items, you see how much I have been playing and how hard”. They still have progression, grind (like Obsidian in GW1) and w whole new elite gear, just for them. They can progress without destroing balancing between casuals and hardcores (which you really had ANET, really had…).
This way you still in some way make people do FOTM for new gear if they want to play future Agony-based content, but you dont hurt more casual players who just want play WvW and PvE without thinking they need better gear, becasue all their effort to exotics were wasted. Just boost drop rates in FOTM more than in other PvE content. Now hardcore grinders, farmers, players playing just for “having more” will have rewards. They can staying whole day in LA, farming FOTMs and knowing they have better rates. Ok, give them that. There can be faster, static way to achive target, ot slower, but more enjoyable way to do it. Just TARGET (stats) should be the same. And everybody have their own peace.
Some people just feel good, even when they are casuals, that they reach stats wall and they can play the game now for fun (me for example). Most of them have this. Now you force them to do new gear so they can feel reliefed too. You are giving them work, nor fun. If you will brind stats the same again (it is not shame to test things, see they dont work, making more damage than progress, and change it! We are adults) you will let them (casuals) stay where they are and let hardcores go where they are. All of them have their coentent, and nobady is looking bad at others. There is no separation, not alienation, no community partition. Those from elite will be seen with new gear on them, those who dont care will just dont make them. But they wont treat each other as enemies groups!
