I did them both many times, and if I ever do fractals, I’d do MF again. Don’t really care for AR myself though.
Still, the people I see hollering for it (search the forums) are those that have done it, and want to do it some more. Yes, there are those that didn’t get to do it, that want the chance, but there are as many (if not more) that ‘didnt get their fill’ while it was around.
The new ‘from scratch’ fractal might be interesting though, depending on which one we get….
Edit: Oh yeah….as for skipping….speed clears and their like FTL. You shouldn’t be able to skip, run past, or otherwise dance around this stuff. If you jumped in to do it, you should have to do it.

I disagree. The people I’ve spoken to disagree. Saying that you’ve spoken to people means nothing to me. All I see is 1 person with an opinion. I like the dungeons – I like MF more than AR but hey if they’ll both be returning as Fractals I’ll welcome their return.
Sorry if you don’t like em, but Anet already confirmed it, which means it’s in the works. But hey you can always skip em!
Regardless of your taste or mine on the Fractals, I am very much looking forward to the return of Cantha and Elona. Anyone have the confirmation Forum post where they confirmed recently that Cantha would return? Someone mentioned it in the Livestream chat and I have not seen it.
But lets wait to see how it will come back. I don’t want it as part of the fractals where it is part of 3/4 dungeons.
I just like the same dungeon with the same rewards. The only thing they might change if it’s up to me is the NPC walking with us and what they say. As it would make more sense if they would now say something else.
I did like this “Temporary story but permanent changes.”. If it is true.. Because achievements and for sure items are not ‘a story’. So that means they will have a temporary story that makes changes in the world and we will see achievements and items linked to that. No more temporary achievements and items / rewards would be great. However I need to see it first.
Also the fact that they talked about expansions is good. But I will watch the video as I base this purely on a transcript.

Colin was asked a question about access to Crystal Desert/Elona. Cantha was not mentioned in the question.
Colin replied and said that new regions are typically added through expansions. We have not made a decision yet on how to add new regions. New areas to the game will be added either through expansions or Living World. Colin said that some of those new areas will be based on the original Guild Wars, however he did not confirm any regions or go into any specifics.

My guild did a dungeon event of AR (sadly I wasn’t there to go with them), and they loved it even if some groups couldn’t manage to finish it, and personally I heard lots of good praise from the molten facility (most people I talked about it said that they would like if all dungeons in the game were as good). Actually, the ones I heard that hated them, at least in my experience (of course, yours might differ) were the ones that were farming them constantly to try to get their respective rewards.

I read WAY more people praising the Molten Facility than complaining and those complaining were usually people who wouldn’t be running fractals or dungeons anyway.
More than happy to see these returning since ppl enjoyed them so much.
Personally disappointed no immediate, or laid down plans for new region/dragon related story after a year. I’m not expecting to fight one..but some effect from a dragons would be a more interesting LS storyline I’d have thought than the stuff we’ve had.
But, adding the dungeons back in is a positive sign of listening to the community

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people expressing an alternate opinion. ArenaNet needs to hear the negative along with the positive (though it should always be stated constructively, of course).
My friends and I enjoyed the Molten Facility but Aetherblade Retreat was a large disappointment to me solely because of Frizz’s lab. That encounter stopped us cold and if that encounter is still in the Fractal version I imagine we will skip it every time.
But as you said, they are likely editing the dungeons to be shorter for their Fractal version, I sincerely hope Frizz’s lab is a part that gets the axe (or at least modified so you don’t get one-shotted by the walls until the very highest Fractal levels).

I also liked them but then you should not want them to be reduced in length. They said they are going to change the fractals so it’s possible you can select what and how many fractals you do where some fractals might not even work with agony (as that should not be in MF) and have other rewards. The fractals has always been some sort of time-machine. The Asura have simply perfected there technique so you can now pick to what event in time you like to go. Thats possible.

This was terrific news for me to, although I’m not sure if the thought of the Firestorm/Berserker duo, and more importantly, MAI TRIN with agony amuses me or scares me :x.
So glad I got the fractal skin I wanted already and enough rings/relics to last a lifetime and won’t have to do that timesink again. People already groan when it’s not swamp/water/charr…
Jetpack/monocle might be cool if they dropped from the fractal versions though.

Personally, I don’t want an expansion if you guys feel you can pull it off by giving away an entire new region to promote gem sales. I don’t want new classes, no warden or marksman or juggernaut… I don’t think anyone knows what the 12th class you’ve considered but scrapped… If anything save that for like 6-8 years from now when the map is almost fully extended on as well as weapon skills, traits, and trait tiers etc.
New zones not in gw1 is very good to hear. You have so much to expand on with little need for an expansion.

Well they would have to be. Both are long dungeons. Fractals are meant to be mini dungeons. One of the issues with fractals is that the dredge and Colossus fractals especially, are too long and not mini dungeons.

Yeah but they also said they work on the fractals itself. Personally I loved MF and AR but I would not like them as one of the fractals that I might come up against. I like them as they where with the length that they had and the rewards that they gave. All of that makes them the goof dungeons they are.
I hope but also think that the change to fractals means that there will be some changes to it so you can simply select a moment in history and replay that. Now you can say, but why would you then pick MF if the other dungeons are faster. Because MF is fun, because you get and are able to get the jet back-pack or the mini.
Or AF because it’s fun and can give you the eye-skin (not sure what the name was) and 1 gold. So depending on what you want you pick one of the dungeons you like and ‘fractals’ is nothing more as a time-machine.
We will see but thats what I hope for and because they say they are working on the fractals itself and it’s the only real way they can really get AR and MF in there I think thats the way they will do it.
Allow me to disagree: what made the dungeons fun (for me) were the dungeons themselves, not their rewards or their lenght. The dungeons would’ve been the same to me if they gave no jetpack/monocle. But you are entitled to your opinion, of course.
Now you should definitely check out the recent livestream with Colin Johanson because if I recall correctly it also addresses the issue of limited-time items and he says both the jetpack and the monocle are NOT coming back. But don’t quote me on that as I’m not 100% sure.
If anything, I see them adding slightly reworked versions of the dungeons as fractals with normalized rewards and scalable difficulty. But that’s just me and we don’t know much about what they have in store for FotM.

Eh, you actually made me come out of lurking to finally post something, but you can’t brush this one off so easily. Every single post I’ve ever seen you make has been blind defense of Anet, without being willing to consider where other people are coming from. I’m not saying you’re wrong or that you can’t have that opinion, but just about all of your posts relate to trying to disprove any negative notions about GW2. As far as fanboys go, that’s a pretty big part of it.
In regards to this though, I’m actually happy to see their return. I wasn’t particularly active when the content came out, and wouldn’t mind a chance to experience. Even if it was negatively received for various reasons, incorporating already-created content that we wouldn’t otherwise see is positive for a lot of reasons. Wait to see how the final version actually plays out before automatically assuming it’ll hurt fractals and be unenjoyable.
