Camera Smoothing Fix Is Nice But...
Am I the only one who imagines a fat neckbeard in a cat costume puking into a garbage can full of kleenex whenever someone cries about “hurts me to play, TEH PAINS!!!”?
I get really bad headaches from playing Minecraft and almost nothing else. Minecraft has an FOV slider, so I’m ruling that one out.

Hahaha, thanks for the bump. Nah, just sucks cause I can only play for around half an hour before I start getting a headache. I’d like to be able to do WvW and dungeons and stuff without having to brutalize my liver with Advil every time, ideally.
Plus FOV sliders are kinda the industry standard and it is absurd to NOT include them, so there’s that too… :P
The camera does feel more responsive. That’s a big plus. The FOV is still claustrophobic. I have described it like this: I feel like I’m trapped in a car, craning my neck to look out the window at all the beautiful stuff outside.

On the bright side, they did explicitly say in the patch notes that this was a first step and they were looking at more comprehensive changes to address various camera issues… so be optimistic

True, but Jon Peters also specifically said in another thread that they were not planning on implementing changes to the FOV.
the biggest problems with the camera.. its too close, it bounces around when you get close to a wall or other object, and gets obstructed by the scenery. None of these things have been handled.
There’s only 2 Gw dealbreakers for me. The Camera and DR. They are 0 for 2 in this patch.
I’m desperately hoping they change their minds about not giving us an FOV slider. I agree that the camera change is nice, but it’s still not enough. :/
I play exclusively Asura because they’re my favorite race, but I hate that I’m stuck staring at tree stumps and the bottom of buildings. If the FOV was increased, I’d be able to actually admire how beautiful this game is, without having to turn my camera up so far that the scenery is blocked by my character’s kitten
ArenaNet, PLEASE reconsider your stance on an FOV slider. :[
Keep an eye out for gaming site reviews of GW2 and if anyone sees them mentioning poor FOV handling link the article. Maybe they need to hear it from sites reviewing their game and not just forum posts and player reports. A bit of negative or constructive criticism from a gaming site can go way farther then forum posting. Not to say we aren’t being heard but maybe we need a step up in the weight of our cries.
Saying it will negatively impact pvp and w3 is hogwash. There are tons of other bugs and exploits that need adjusting. Having a player enjoy the game comfortably is better then “PlayerX” being able to see that zerg that just ran by them on the left. Paper towel tube goggle gaming is not fun.

Minecraft has a terrible field of view slider. It streches the camera in a really weird manner and it looks butt ugly. Best to stay at 70fov in that crap.
In gw2 though as I’ve seen with modifying the game in window, the fov increase would have been wonderful.
I never really had FOV problems, but I must say it feels like I am now. The FOV definitely feels smaller after the patch.
Best you can do atm is play in windowed mode and squash the game down, gives an incredible fov boost but shrinks the hell out of your UI.
