Camera and Headaches
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Its an old option .. but make sure that the camera shaking is not enabled.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Tried the shaking setting, and setting the settings back to default. Would say its looking at the screen too long but I program and therefore am already used to long days of screen exposure on the same machine. Appreciate the doc thought but its that old joke, Doc my arm hurts when I do this, Doc: Don’t do that.
Hence the curiosity if anyone else ran into this and found something that helped them. Will keep adjusting settings. Anyone that’s played sports know that sometimes fun hurts.

You know…. i have been experiencing the same :S if i play it every single day i get mad headaches that won’t stop, it stops only if i skip a day, but return if i play it that day. I have been having a headache for 4 days now because i played gw2 for 4 days. I tried adjusting my settings, incresing/decresing by screen brightness, lowering/incresing my graphics, changing resolution and so on. Nothing helps so i’ll stay away from the game more from now on. I have no problem when playing other games for hours, but after an hour of gw2 since the patch, i get head pain. And yes i went to a doctor and i’m perfectly healthy, never wore glasses and i don’t need them, perfect vision and CT. Even blood analysis spotless.
Guess only way is playing the game less or none sigh.
I’ve been getting migraine headaches recently- not sure if it’s triggered by GW2 or if it’s just been exacerbated by it.
First-person mode usually makes me a bit motion sick anyway, so I stay away from that setting.
I make sure that my screen brightness isn’t glaringly bright- also being in a well-lit room helps.
Make sure to take frequent breaks. I always kinda shrugged this one off, but it helps. I get up for a few minutes every 30 minutes or so to do one thing or another (filling my glass with water, grabbing a snack, going to the loo, looking outside).
I’m prone to migraines as it is and I wear glasses. Generally I’ve found that high contrast and “sharpness” on a screen can set me off. Poor frame rate over certain textures can also make me feel a bit queasy (which tbh, sounds pretty normal). Camera shake is a definite “no-no” and sometimes post-processing can be problematic.
It can take a bit of experimenting to find settings that are the most comfortable. Sometimes game experience/graphics are have to be compromised for the sake of your real life experience.
Can you think of anything else you may have changed recently in game? Perhaps:
-A new class or weapon set gives rise to different animations? (for instance, Ranger sword is quite jumpy and dizzying for some people)
-A different race changes the camera angle in its own way, making you feel a bit queasy? (it’s quite a change roaming around as a norn, then changing to asura which is much lower to the ground).
-A new weapon/armour/backpiece/dye combination that distracts you or strains your eyes?
I know this all might sound silly, but it’s worth a consideration if it’s impacting your health.
Not game-related: Something that I wasn’t really told by the doctors until recently (and I guess it’s kind of obvious). Make sure to drink and eat regularly. It helps. Sometimes when you get sucked into a particular task you can forget about these things. :P
Try playing a bit with FOV slider. “Wrong” fov can cause headaches and motion sickness.
