Can Gw2 players get some HoM Pts?
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
You can…by purchasing and playing Guild Wars (the first one).
Hall of Monuments is a lore based achievement system to those that completed content in the old game, happening 100’s of years prior to the new game’s time line.
Yep, just have to play gw1. It takes awhile, but is fun.
You can get 3 pieces for appearance by just spending $20 and getting any of the base campaigns. If you want more, you’ll need to purchase EotN.
Sure. If you play GW1.
The whole point of the HoM was for GW1 players to show their achievements, as well as get some of the old GW1 skins, in GW2.
Considering that these were left behind by our ancestors(our characters in GW1), how would you work it?

I don’t wanna play gw1, but by logging in they seem to be getting free things.

^Free things that they paid and played for.
Anyway, it’s 3 points just for connecting the accounts I think, so you can probably get a cheap campaign+eotn bundle and get to lvl 10 to access the monument. Then just spend a bit of money for the cheapest rare mini and put it in. That or get to ~ lvl 15, death level a pet to lvl 20 and spend around 10platinum on a hero armor. Either way you’ll be at 5 points, enough for the armor set without the helm in a few hours.

Nope. We had to play the game to get them things (well, aside from the first 3 points, which was a ‘thank you for supporting us’ gesture).

Yeah I wouldn’t be okay with this, and I barely played GW1 and have no HoM points. It just wouldn’t be fair.
Can we have at least enough to get 1 piece of gear just for appearance?
Yeah GW1 servers are live. I highly recommend playing it. It’s a very fun game!

We got “free” things by putting 1000s of hours into GW1 and earning them over the course of 7 years or so. The bump in HoM points has already been discussed as far as GW2 achievement points go.
They did the bump as an extra thank you to GW1 vets. Previously each HoM tier (which there are 10 of in GW2 achievements) were worth a total of 20 points IF you had 50/50 HoM points. They bumped it up to 50 points per tier instead of 2 because 2 was insulting for the amount of work that had to go into it.

Anything from the HoM was given to people that played gw1.
The full HoM armor set requires 6 HoM points. You get 5 points just for finishing one campaign, which doesn’t take long (i’d advise Nightfall, for the heroes). If you take your time to do one of the three special missions and get a hero armor drop (one drop is rather easy, it’s later when it gets problematic), it’s your 6th point right there. Or you can buy an elite armor set (Eye of the North ones are the cheapest, but require some grinding for titles to unlock vendors).
Generally, getting the first 10 or so points is relatively easy. After that, it starts getting harder and harder. Getting to 30 (for all unlockable items) requires some time and effort, and lot of GW1 players never get to that point. Getting 50 points (max possible) is something that only few percent of GW1 players have managed. May be even harder now, due to lower game population.

It’s a good day to be a GW1 veteran. I just log in and get free things because Arenanet loves me and despises anyone who didn’t play GW1. Life’s good.

How could you possibly be reading in any level of despite here? Melodrama has a time and place.

Wouldn’t call my 50/50 GWAMM free by any means. The reason you don’t want to get it proves it’s quite a bit of effort. That’s why you want it for free.

This THIS THIS THIS !!!!
Besides, it’s not a thread about ap points. What OP wanted were the skins.

Those with a full HoM earned it. Really. That wasn’t quick and easy by any means.
It was, however, tons of fun. If you’ve never played Guild Wars, I strongly recommend it.
It’s an amazing game.
I never played GW1, don’t intend to, and I could care less that those who did have special titles and an extra 500 AP. Why? Because I’m not a spoiled, self-entitled idiot.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Buy the game, link accounts you get three points just for doing that.
Then play the game, it is a superior game to gw2, enjoy.

Yeah man. They give free things that cost hundreds of hours, gold, and effort to earn over the course of years. And they despise people simply because they are rewarding others for their time, effort, and support.
I also think the manager of my local supermarket despises me simply because he pays his employees for working, and not paying me for not working.
I’m being sarcastic if you can’t tell.
I think it’s good that HoM pts are only for GW1 players because of this some people are still playing this game including me, I wish they add even more to things to do in GW1 to attract players.
Although it’s true that we got APs from playing GW1, I don’t think it’s fair to tell people that didn’t to go play GW1 if they want the points. You all know how much time was invested in getting the HoM filled up. It’s not fair to demand someone take the time away from GW2 to get them.
On the flip side, people that didn’t play GW or fill the HoM, you really need to consider the considerable amount of time that was invested in getting those achievements. I didn’t fill the HoM in my time in GW, but I got a lot of it and spent years doing it. This is really a nice “Thanks mate” from ArenaNet and not in any way at all a slight on those that didn’t play GW. Players that filled the HoM are getting just enough APs for one more chest unlocked, while the rest of us are getting a nice kick on the way to the next one.
I had over 6000 APs before this by the way. The few hundred extra are a nice kick, but hardly earth shattering.
To answer the question in the title of this thread:
Yes! GW2 players CAN get all 500 HoM points. The Guild Wars servers are live and active, and anyone (who wasn’t banned in the very big, very controversial, and immensely entertaining Hero’s Ascent Dhuum-a-thon a few years back anyway) can create a character in Guild Wars, link that account to their GW2 account, and start working on the Hall of Monuments.
As a bonus, you’ll get hours of quality time in an excellent game.
It’s win/win for everyone. Seriously people. Want the 500 points? Go get them. Nobody will stop you.
Buy EOtN just for the soundtrack alone! It’s awesome.
Yep you absolutely can get HoM points still!
You just need to purchase GW1, purchase EoTN, play 500+ hours and earn the rewards just like the rest of us.
The servers are still live, and you can earn all the cosmetic rewards (first 30 points) without seeing or speaking to another player in the game if you so desire. There are plenty of guides floating around out there on the quickest path to 30 points.
Can we have at least enough to get 1 piece of gear just for appearance?
No.
HoM rewards should be exclusive to Gw1 players!
