Can I disable Twilight particle fx?
Either by deleting a file or in-game? I can’t see the enemies’ tells in PvE when selfish people just make the screen a red blob.
There’s no way to disable a specific weapon. There’s only the generalized options in the video options panel.
PS it might help if you realize that no one is trying to make the screen a red blob and that it’s not any more selfish to choose to wield a legendary than it is to ask others not to wield them.

I’m asking for the good of the group, though.
Tbh, I find the Fractal Backpieces and the Ravel Glider so much more annoying. Especially that god kitten ed Raven Glider colored Magenta.
So two people suddenly justifies telling other people what they can and can’t do? You can add 10 more topics if you’d like, 12 people making forum posts still wouldn’t make it acceptable. How many people do you think have Sunrise, Twilight, Eternity, or the other Legendary weapons with particle effects? You think you get to tell them they can’t use them anymore?

Geez. So angry. I’m pretty sure there are more people affected by the particle effects than the people that own the weapons with said particle effects though.
I don’t care about this subject one way or another but it seems like the OP is asking for a means to control the fx on his own machine, which is a common request here. He may have called legendary owners selfish but I don’t see him actually demanding they stop carrying legendaries. In fact, the scant few lines he’s written don’t amount to much and the ire he’s getting seems a little out of proportion. It may be time to take a breath and calm down.
Anet recently added an option to control the audio on other player’s backpacks. If they were to consider this, they would almost certainly make it a visual option each player can choose for themselves.
He may have called legendary owners selfish
When you start out by throwing stones at people minding their own business, you don’t get to act like the victim when someone throws a stone back.
If you are in a group with people who have particle effects, especially if there is more than 1 person with particle effects in the group, it can make it difficult to see what’s going on. I’m frankly surprised that Anet allows particle effects in any form of PvP. But I guess Anet doesn’t want to remove one of the biggest goals in GW2.

That’s a disturbing way to think for a number of reasons.
There is a legitimate issue about whether particle effects from any skin interfere with people’s ability to play & enjoy the game; there aren’t very many ways for an individual player to control them.
However, the OP completely undermined their rhetoric by making it a statement about the motivations of those who own legendaries. It should surprise no one that the thread has digressed from discussing particle effects and video options to an argument about who is or is not selfish.
Stick to the issue; try not to worry about how other people like to play.

What if it was just an option so i can turn them off on my screen and you can look at all the particle spam? win/win situation right.
Madness Rises [Rise] – Banners Hold.
Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.

As long as that means we don’t have to give up any of the currently-planned features, skins, QoL, UI, or any other changes, sure.
This change, however, would be far from ‘cheap’. First, there’s nothing in the game code that distinguishes one type of effect from another. Each database entry relating to items and skins and effects would have to include the relevant flags to track it. Second, they’d have to add code to make it possible to turn off effects with whatever criteria applies (is it legendary effects only? any particle of effects? only during combat? only in open world?). All of this would have to be tested against existing items & effects and also to anticipate potential issues for the future. (For example, it takes so long to release armor sets because of all the features included in the original designs for how gear would display.)
So sure, it’s nice to imagine that the game would have more options than it does now. It’s just not all that easy to implement them. I’d prefer to see more skins rather than more options and other QoL improvements.

Where can I see the list of currently planned features, etc? Is there a list or are you speaking metaphorically?

Some are asking ANet to prioritize adding an option to hide particle effects (either collectively or weapon by weapon, as the OP suggested). That means not working on something else.
Okay then. I was hoping there was a roadmap of upcoming features we could salivate over. Nvm.

Bahahahahaha this is Anet we are talking about, you will get a list of upcoming features/content a day before the patch, and sometimes even then they leave out a few tidbits.

More control over the degree of particle effects shown (client side) would definitely be a QoL update. Since we as players have no way of knowing if QoL feature A or B is planned, we can’t claim working on B is “setting back planned features”.
Argue QoL vs Content, argue this vs that QoL, but you can’t say “suggested QoL feature shouldn’t take work away from planned QoL features” because you and I can’t possibly tell the difference between “planned” and “new” features.
Personally particle effects have never bothered me, I play with many friends that have legendaries. If particle effects are an issue and obstructing your game play how do you manage with the multitude of skills that have large effects in game that also obstruct your view? How about Ad Infinium, Ascension and the new Warbringer… I find those far more obstructive to view. Not to mention every Norn ever made in the game by players. How do you cope at world bosses? With all their visual effects. Should we nerf all of the above mentioned areas of game too?
If your targeted on the enemy I do not really see the issue? The game even auto targets your nearest enemy on attack. I really don’t personally see how particle effects are obstructing your game play as I don’t experience the same issue.
But I think for those that are struggling for “tells” I believe the only real solution Anet should do, is to take a leaf out of GW1 book where targetted enemies had skill activation icons shown under their display portrait some variation of this would go a long way to rectifying this issue.
People with legendaries are selfish? really? bit of a silly statement.

I can tell you that whatever those developers might work on instead is something I want more than an option to selectively disable particle effects for legendary weapons.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t make the request. I’m saying it’s not ‘free’ and I’d prefer those resources be used for something else.
Any updates to this MAJOR issue for PvE / SPvP? Any way to just lower particle effects or weapon trails across the board without making the rest of the game look garbage? Come on, this has been a major issue for years. You can’t dodge when a giant norn is whirling, obscuring the enemy’s animation tells.

It’s not a ‘major issue’ — it’s a serious annoyance for some and no big deal for lots of others. Even if ANet agreed with you when you first posted that this was worth the time to address, it would be ages before we heard anything. They’d have to figure out which effects to toggle on|off, how to toggle them (per weapon? global? as a command-line option on launch?), how to code it, which resources to divert to set up a proof-of-concept, test said proof, and then plan to implement it.
It wouldn’t be until all that has been done that there would be a possibility that we’d hear about it.
In other words, be patient.
