I really wanted them to bring them back last year, as I’d only unlocked it fully on two characters and partially on another, but now I can use the Wardrobe to put it on the rest so I don’t care.

They definitely should bring them back. I trashed the non-burning book way back when and I also lost the hats that came out around the time (horns and Gandalf hat)
Making these a laurel purchase like the S1 items would be a great idea.
Pretty sure Anet wanted exclusivity with those back items. They ran the event once (with a heap of bugs) and never really looked back at Halloween 1 (2012).
Also a lot of people get the spelling and pronunciation of this item wrong. It’s “Mad Memoires” (say mem-wahr), ie. ‘an account of one’s personal life and experiences; autobiography’… not mad memories. Spelt similarly, also rather similar meaning, but in essence very different.
I’d like it if they brought it back though; I don’t care about how exclusive a back item is but it would show the newer players the essence of a scavenger hunt.

I put the skin onto a back strap, then onto a new character. Deleted the character, forgetting it was on.
I am sure you have never done anything wrong however, where you accidentally shredded a letter you shouldn’t have, or damaged something valuable/important. I shall simply declare you a latter day saint and be done.

I hope they bring it back. I’ve been playing since launch but I was too low level to finish it at the time and stupidly thought it wouldn’t matter and I could do it next Halloween.
I’m not even that bothered about the item, I just wanted to get to finish the scavenger hunt myself.
Since the game as a whole is shifting towards more permanent content it would be good if all the Halloween 2012 stuff could be re-added too. I’m sure if it had been released later it would have been permanent.

yes I used to have collected this back item and bound it to my charr warrior which i deleted because i wasn’t that much of a fan of the warrior type. But after that I found out that it was only bound to that character and I was unable to use it. So after a long time I deleted it from the bank because I thought I would never be able to wear it again. Few months later they announced the wardrobe so I contacted customer support to ask if it was possible to refund the book for my wardrobe. I even have screenshots (unintended actually but bit lucky) with the charr wearing it so proof i once received it. But it was declined. So far customer support. so pls bring it back some way.

Probably too much time passed between deletion and contact of the costumer support. I dont think they accept screenshots as proof, so if the log files are deleted you are out of luck.

I did exactly that and they did nothing about it. I had the first and second book, and I can honestly say for a god given fact that I participated in the first halloween event.
And yes accidents do happen. But still as mentioned, those who participated in the event should be granted theirs back – regardless if they bring both back or not.
Since they were originally soulbound, most players deleted them if they deleted the character that it was bound to.
Backpack straps came around much later and if you deleted the character that it was bound to before that character could transmute it to the straps and make it account bound, the only option WAS to delete it since no other character could take it out of the bank making it impossible to transmute it.
The only other options were:
1. Be a pack rat and never delete anything and spend gems on storage
or
2. Have inside knowledge 2 years before the wardrobe was implemented and saved it just for the wardrobe.

It would be great to bring everything from before the wardrobe back at least once since the wardrobe so that we can put them in it.
Then the exclusive elitists can have their exclusive toys and validate themselves as better than everyone else.

@OP: We don’t know. It didn’t return in 2013, but they introduced the wardrobe and there’s a good amount of people who either accidentally deleted it, or never got it on a character they wanted it on and thus deleted it (like I did) for inventory space (because they’re not the best stats, y’know).
So it would make sense for them to bring it back.
But in all honesty, I am doubtful they will. But I am hoping they do. That was a fun scavenger hunt, and I would love more like that.
