Why time gating has value….

What did you do as 4th monthly (besides events, group events and champions?)

I’m saving masterwork crafter for all the Ascended I’m going to make.

(Though I’m not really surprised someone finished off all the monthlies already. The Scarlet invasions alone make it incredible easy to get Champions + Group Events)

The masterwork crafter can be done so cheaply.. 120 green wood planks and 180 bronze ingots, for example.

I hope to repeat this one two more accounts, tomorrow and Monday, so I can get the maximum of the remaining karma before the rewards are reduced by the “new system” that was temporarily rolled back.

Fortunately, I already have legendaries on my two main toons, so ascended weapons aren’t on my to-do list. I’ll be saving my coppers for the armor.

Yeah, I agree that time-gating is valid. At least 50 players in my guild are already done with their monthly achievement or will be done by tomorrow.

Yeah I’m saving crafter and jp for next week. Since I’ll be doing those anyways for materials and such.

Everything else was easily done with the invasions. :/

Monthly reward and forcing players to wait 2 weeks before they can get their ascended gear is two different things.

You get 30 days to get the monthly reward, you can finish it in the first day or finish it in the last, it doesn’t matter either way.

Ascended gear, you’re not allowed to get it until a minimum amount of days have been reached.

It seems you don’t even understand what good and bad time gating is.

Oddly enough the example of the OP demonstrates to me why time gating is a bad idea.

Seriously so you do your monthly in one day and say time gating is needed, no its not needed freedom of choice is needed, i do my monthly in my time you do yours in one day both happy and we move on.

Same with Ascended i should be able to make it when i want it or need it, not when Anet deems i can have it..

Some people might need some time because they have other stuff to do too … maybe some people can’t even do the monthly due to real life priorities. You’re good at insulting a massive part of the paying playerbase.

I’m 48 events short of completing my monthlies. This isn’t time gated content. You can complete it, as pointed out above, at any point you want. The new ascended recipes with a 24 hr cool down… That’s bad time gating.
