Can I please play the PS without AI?
Have you met Trahearne yet?
Welcome to the Internet, exposing characters since the early 80’s.
How would that work? All of the characters in the story except for you and any friends who happen to join you are computer-controlled.
Therefore the only way to remove AI from the story would be to remove all the characters except for you, and that wouldn’t be much of a story. (Or to have a whole bunch of people employed to control characters in story instances, which will never happen.)
I’m not sure what you mean about them being a liability though. Maybe I’m just remembering wrong but I can’t think of any time when an NPC getting themselves killed will cause you to fail the story (which makes it a vast improvement over all of GW1’s story). Worst case scenario you have to kill the enemies then revive them, more often you kill the enemies and any allies who are downed or dead are immediately revived.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Haven’t had much issue with that for PS but several of the ones for dungeons are definitely in that category.
Yep, AI is notoriously terrible. Just let me do what I can and rez the npc later. They are largely useless anyway.
If they were inactive NPCs for interaction but didn’t engage in combat, they wouldn’t be able to press attacks in stupid directions, aggro unnecessary numbers of enemies and run off leaving you to face them, and otherwise make things more difficult than they need to be.
Heck, it may actually bring some skill and tactics into the game if your thief, for example, were forced to actually engage enemies tactically rather than just ‘swing x weapon’ which is the one-size-fits-all storyline as is.
I’ve just done A Grisly Shipment and for soldiers and ‘Commander’ Trahearne, they sure do act erratically, all spreading out and aggroing everything below deck, then when I got engaged in combat by a risen with an immobilise, they promptly ran off and left me to die. Gah!
How about this?
Play the PS with better AI.
