Hi. Let’s say I have a warrior, and I have another elementalist with a light armor. Could I make my warrior equipment look like the one of the elementalist? Could the equipment skins be applied to any classes?

Only certain pieces can be transmuted cross armour weight class (most being from the gem store or living stories). However you can transmute the guardian’s unique starter shoulders and helmet onto a warrior.

From what I’ve read, that’s not possible because of a decision they made early in the design regarding how armors will be modeled for each weight class (where the seams are, basically); so if they want to make armor weights freely transmutable across weight classes, they would need to remodel every armor in the game two more times.

It’s pretty disappointing and I’m not even sure how they benefited from such a decision, but it is what it is.

Only heavy armor with heavy armor, medium with medium, and light with light. It’s A-net’s safety feature, as during the beta it was crashing the game. There’s also the weighting issue Pandaman was glad enough to mention above, so no..

If you want someone wearing light armor, i suggest rolling either a Mesmer, or a Necromancer (not mentioning Elementalist, as you said you had one).

Or, you can always get yourself an “outfit”, and wear it above your armor.

The reasons we love the new downgra…..er….feature patch :

Generic skins are strictly armor weight class, heavy armor with heavy armor skins, medium armor with medium skins, etc. There are certain specialty skins that are able to be on any armor weight.

That doesn’t make sense. Surely it’d be based on the races considering the vast bulk of animations are shared across professions of the same race just with slightly differing particle effects. Take the guardian’s leap of faith… it’s the same as ranger’s swoop. The first 2 strikes of the rangers GS auto-attack is the warrior’s AA. We could take elementalist’s burning speed… it’s the same animation (minus the particle effects ofc) as warrior’s shield bash. So we know that if an elementalist were in heavy armour and they did that ability it’d look fine because the same race, size, gender combo already uses that animation.

I think the reason is simpler… GW1 had different armour for different professions. That takes alot of work so they reduced it to 3 armour classes which still forces a visible difference on the playerbase while still reiterating a cosmetic distinction based on profession, just a weaker form to GW1.
