Hello everyone. On my account, I have the digital (not Heroic) edition of GW2. Is it posssible to upgrade my account to the Heroic of the Digital deluxe version without buying them for the full price? Thank you for all the info.

If you purchased your DDE after the first anniversary of the game, you own the Heroic Edition.

If you purchased your DDE before the first anniversary of the game, the only way to obtain the items given with the Heroic Edition is to purchase them from the Gem Store and/or the Trading Post.

Or, if you so desire, you can purchase another copy of the game, but you would not be able to transfer your account over to said new copy.

Good luck.

Do not buy a Heroic Edition to ‘upgrade’ your account. You can not add a serial key to an existing account. The only way you can upgrade your account is through the Gem Store (pre-anniversary/Heroic Editon to DDE).

Here are the items included in the Heroic Edition, whether regular or Heroic DDE:

Good luck.

I’m not sure that what Ardenwolfe says is correct.

There is no way to add keys to an existing account and therefore the only way to upgrade is through the gem store.

I know this option still exists with Guild Wars 1 since I just bought Eye of the North. Also, I know this used to be the case with the game years ago, but it’s been a while.

I’ll double-check to see if this option is still available through upgrade or a similar method.

Edit: Apparently that method is now gone. You can only upgrade through the gem store. I’ll delete my first post to avoid confusion.

What Inculpatus cedo said is correct. My apologies for providing obsolete information.

Gone to Reddit.

It is possible, but the method and price depends on which version you have currently:

If you got the ‘normal’ Digital edition
(Just the base game and, if you got it before launch, the Hero’s Band ring)

You’ll need to buy the Digital Deluxe Upgrade from the gem store (Upgrades tab) for 2000 gems. This will add everything that comes with the Digital Deluxe Edition to your current account. Annoyingly you can’t buy 2000 gems exactly. The nearest you can get is to buy 1600 and then 800, which in the UK costs £25.50 compared to £49.99 for a new copy of the Digital Deluxe Edition.

If you got the Digital Deluxe edition
(The one that came with the Mistfire Wolf skill and mini Rytlock)

There are only 3 items in the Heroic Edition which you don’t already have:

  • A set of ‘legacy’ armor (Primeval, Krytan or Profane)
  • 10 XP Boosters
  • An 18 slot mithril box

All of these can be bought individually, so all you need to do to ‘upgrade’ your account is buy 1600 gems, buy the armor set (500 gems) and the XP boosters (1050 gems) from the gem store and convert enough of the remaining gems to gold for the 18 slot box (currently 29 gems gets you 3g and the box costs 2g 59s but obviously all of that is subject to change).

For me personally, I would not drop 1,050 gems (about $12.50) on 10x temporary Experience Boosters. There are so many ways to get extra XP in this game, there’s just no sense in spending real money on temporary boosters. Just buy 800 gems ($10), then get one set of cosmetic armor, convert a handful of gems to gold to buy an 18-slot box/bag (hint: the leather ones are usually cheaper than the mithril ones) and do whatever you want with the remaining gems. The Heroic Edition only lets you choose between three specific armor skins; if you buy gems you could pick from any of them.

If you’re really wanting to spend 1,600 gems to get the legacy armor, 10x XP boosters and 18-slot box, you may as well just buy the Digital Deluxe Upgrade, which costs 400 gems more and will give all those items PLUS the Chalice of Glory (PvP rank bonus), Tome of Influence (guild influence bonus), Miniature Rytlock, Golem Banker and Summon Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill. It occasionally goes on sale for half off. I thought it was very overpriced at 2,000 gems ($25) but when it went on sale for 1,000 gems ($12.50) it fell into the realm of “fun luxury splurge” for me.
