I play several characters and rotate between them a lot. is there any way to just have my account name show in Guild Chat, so I don’t have to constantly explain who the heck I am every time I swap mid-conversation?

(Display name actually. Account name is the email you use to log on with)

I wish this was an option also. I have to mouse over guild names in chat to see who people are.

I resolved this by buying 6 Identity repair kits and renaming 6 of my 8 characters to “Lahmia” with a secondary name to match the profession (and a makeover).

Aww… but I spend WAY to much time crafting the perfect name for each character (No one cares about your character names, Superfrick.1536, shut up) for me to want to toss that all away and go with your option. -But your option is effective, I’ve seen several people do it.

It would be nice to use display name in guild chat.

Superfrick, I also take time to research a name according to the character’s in-game culture and traits. Guildies cannot pronounce the names and can’t easily find me for groups, though. XD

They can just mouseover your name to see your account name?

While they can mouse over your name for the info, I have no objections towards a positive QoL change.

Personally I fixed the issue with naming all of my toons as knight"something", so people just know me as knight now.

On the other hand: Constantly someone whispers me under a different toon name and I get easily confused, maybe the nickname system from friends list could be projected on your guild chat. So you nickname your friend “rallybot” and no matter what toon they message you on you would see the name “rallybot”.

I just made all my characters with the same surname. But like lahmia said, rename them.

I just remember the names of people who matter.

I’d rather keep character names visible in chat, with display name as the mouse-over option. I play another game that shows account display name in chat, at half the time I don’t even recognize friends and guildies when I meet them in the world because I never had seen their character names before.

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: over time, people get used to mousing over and learning variations of character names for fellow guildies who play a lot.

I use Tot in all my names so this makes it easier for players to recognise me.
Couple of other guildies do a similar thing with their names.
I find it fairly easy to remember my guildies alts but the odd time i do need to check, i could see this being a problem in a very large guild though
