Can you give us the ability to disable our own glider?
Sometimes when I do Jumping Puzzles, I accidentally glide and it causes me to mess up..
It annoys me so much. =(

Solution:
Maybe let us unequipped our gliders in the glider menu so it would prevent us from gliding accidentally?

I think ppl have already asked numerous times to have an on/off toggle for the glider. I agree with this completely. I find they can be a pain in JP’s. I have to use wireless keyboard due to my set up and wireless ones have a slight latency, so for me to make some longer jumps, i have to hold my space bar for a couple of seconds, which always results in activating my glider. It’s really bad when i have problems doing some relatively easy JPs i’ve done 100’s of times with no issues prior to glider intro to Tyria and i’m missing them all the time now. Very frustrating.

So I expect you still double tap to dodge then?

I got rid of double tap within hours of starting to play, it’s been disabled ever since. This is the same principle, sometimes a small improvement makes a big difference.

hells no, i got rid of the double tap to dodge when i started doing jp’s :p but it reallly isnt that hard to not activate your glider when jumping around

and im saying this as someone with a broken spacebar that has been broken on one side for 5+ years now…

A toggle for gliders would be great. I haven’t had too much trouble with it, but I haven’t been doing a ton of Core jumping puzzles lately, either.

I know holding space doesn’t make me jump higher in this game, but too many other platforming games have trained my hands otherwise.

Just get a Guild Wars 2 streamer, like for example AuroraPeachy, to complain about it and then they’ll definitely do something about it. XD

This is not a solution.
The way I do jumping puzzles since beta of this game I push down the space button to do long jumps and sometimes I double tap the space bar to jump rappidly on smaller platforms and both of those methods cause me to accidently glide which is a pain.

This issue never occured until they added the glider ability which broke the core game for me during Jumping Puzzles, which btw, are my favorite content in GW2. A real solution would be to give us an ability to unequip the glider or to toggle it off so it doesn’t interfere during these moments. Telling me to adopt to a broken mechanic like this is not a solution.

Which JP(s) does this happen to you in? Perhaps it would be easier to add those JP’s to the no fly zones that disable your glider.

If you fall to your death, it’s no different than any other time you fell to your death in a JP prior to gliders, so that counter is moot.

its not a broken mechanic, it’s a QoL feature you’re asking for, not a fix.

you jump just as far when you hold down the space bar as when you tap the space bar.
you dont gain anything by double tapping a jump.

both these show that you don’t understand the mechanics and have been doing things that made no difference to how the game reacted, as such adapting to playing the game with the proper mechanics is the easier and quicker solution.

yes they may add in a QoL patch to be able to disable it, and i do hope they will, but the reality is its not a broken mechanic you’re just doing it wrong

This subject has come up before and will again because a new mechanic (gliding) was welded onto an existing mechanic (jumping) without giving a diverse playerbase any say in it. (Why does that sound familiar?) The advice of “just don’t hold down your jump key” is technically correct but misses the point. As posters in other threads have pointed out, people have different reaction times and different lag experiences. Previously, the system worked well enough to accommodate these. Now it doesn’t. As I explained in one of the other posts, I – like many – come from a background of playing games where it does matter how long you hold down the jump key. I’m used to timing jumps this way across all games and gw2 didn’t object to this before. Now it does. All that people are asking for in threads like these is the option to split the jump/glide keys. Even the best of us won’t always tap the jump key fast enough even if we try. We’re fighting the interface here instead of enjoying the game and until that’s fixed these posts are going to keep appearing.
