Q:

Hi, I have an interest in playing the Chinese client. There are several differences in their version that will make playing it different and I think that would be fun if just to try it. One difference I have read is the restrictions on trait points.

I would like to know if it would be acceptable/possible for me to gain access to a Chinese client when it launches?

While I know I would have to purchase the Chinese Client, if this is allowed I have a few thoughts on what restrictions I might encounter in trying to achieve my goal of experience this alternate client.

I hope in my attempts to clarify what I am asking hasn’t caused more confusion. I can be terrible at expressing myself.

There’s also a voluntary sub fee and to identify dyes costs gems. Oh and you have to be level 45 to enter any kind of PvP. And dungeon exp has been reduced severely, crafting exp removed completely.

Thank you for adding some of the other differences here. These are some really interesting changes.

This point is not longer valid at least for WvW.

No.

The two games have pretty big differences, let alone different clients. You will need to purchase a Chinese copy.

Ty for the reply Vol,
I understand the clients are different.
I am also fine with purchasing another copy of the game.

I will edit the question with some more details.

A question would be, CAN you buy a Chinese copy? I’m in NA and I don’t think I can buy a EU copy, and vice versa. It was my understanding you could only buy a game copy from the region you are from. So, if it’s similar you may have to be over there to buy it or have someone from over there buy it for you.

Since you want to play the Chinese version, I assume you speak Mandarin. I would post in the forum of KongZhong. The people there should know if a non-Chinese can play in China.

Ty for the reply Astral,
I have no doubts I could buy a Chinese copy.

If nothing else I could buy one online, or pay someone to buy a box copy from a Chinese vendor if that is needed.

I would be so stoked if I could also have a Chinese CE edition. esp if it has a different Figure like the one I have now with Rtylock

Be careful buying a boxed copy. I think China is region 6 dvd (C/3 for blu-ray), so if you get a disc from there it will not work in a NA rig unless you have your system unlocked and region free. That would be the first thing I’d look into before trying for the boxed copy.

You would most likely need to have it shipped to you. I accidentally bought an EU (French) game I’m on NA I contacted support and they said it would adjust to the right servers at download. Which it did, as I entered my location. It was a blessing for me but might cause you an issue.

That star for map completion is not different, players already get that on the NA/EU servers.
