Can i return the retail version of game?
It depends what the reason is.
Most places won’t take a PC returned game because a) an MMO will have a one-time us key code for that account, b) you should have checked the system specs before you bought it,
or c) you mentioned Ascended items.
If you’re in the EU, yes. No matter what the store tells you, you can get a refund up to 6 months after purchase.
Ah, I love costumer laws.
If the game is in its original condition (ie game code has not been used the seal is not broken) then I don’t think you would have a problem.

Man we bought ours at gamestop. They don’t accept any return after 30 days.
Or can someone tell us Anet or Ncsoft customer support phone number?
As far as I can tell, they don’t have a customer support number, and if they do have one, it’s hard as heck to find. I’m wondering about returns myself, because I (along with my bf and two other guild mates, one being the guild leader) was falsely accused of botting and my account was terminated under false accusations.
The only thing you can do is wait for a mod reply like the rest of us.
If you contact anet, you can arrange a refund with no problems at all.
There is an email address somewhere around here that you can use to contact them.

Good luck, Terry. Because even with a ticket submitted, it can take 3-7 days to get a reply, or even longer. If you do plan on returning your game (and can), hopefully you get a reply on how before your return deadline.

Ok, i got a reply from NCsoft Account Support:
"
We are only able to refund purchases that were made from our website: https://buy.guildwars2.com/.
Since the purchase was made from a Gamestop® please contact them in regards to a refund as they will be the only ones that can refund the purchase made from them.
"
So whoever got the retail version has to stuck with it.
At least you got 2 months of enjoyment for the money.
I got a copy for my birthday, on the 9th, from a relative that didn’t know I had already been playing since august. I had absolutely no trouble returning it and getting a refund.
Individual situations might be different though.

I bought the game retail as well because I wanted the box. NCsoft should have to give retail outlets a refund for any game that gets returned. I also bought gems so If I try to get a refund for my gems my account gets deleted. Most companies send defective items back to the supplier for a refund and this game should be treated as defective if the purchaser feels it is not the game that was advertised. It’s also ridiculous to offer digital purchasers a refund but not retail purchasers.
At least you got 2 months of enjoyment for the money.
Hmm, lets say you had a girlfriend/boyfriend for 2 months and then she/he cheated on you. Would you still say, “at least I got 2 months of enjoyment for the money I spent going out on dates”.

Actually I had the same problem with All Points Bulletin except they just went out of business instead of falsely advertising or whatever you want to call this situation. Granted the company behind APB knew kitten well their company would die two months after release. I also didn’t get a refund or compensation from the publisher EA while others did or from Steam where I bought the game =/
