This is not to say trench coats are horrible fashion taste. Some looks nice, especially with the mid west accent to it. From GW1-GW2, except for a few rare instants, most ranger armors are trench coats. Whenever i see a pack of rangers in WvW, i thought they just finished Christmas shopping from Macys.
Abuse or lack of creativity is probably too strong of a way to say it, but I can’t help but feel the fashion designer(s) for Anet overuse this fashion line quite lot for the rangers. I hope there will more of none-trenchcoat armors for the class .

The trench coats look cool from the front, I think. The problem is I’m usually looking at my character from the back, and all I can see is the coat down to her ankles.
Rangers get trench coats or leather straps. Those are your options. I’m generally disappointed with the Medium armor selection/variety. Most of them just seem to be slight variations of the same thing.
I completely agree, but it’s more so a problem with all medium armor classes and not just rangers. That said, we should all be constantly pushing for more armor variety in general in this game because I’m fairly certain there’s a large number of unhappy people wearing light/heavy armor.
So what type of armor do you suggest? I would love to see your design ideas. I mean if your hate what we do have and feel the need to complain about it, the least you could do is tell Anet what you do want.
I don’t like how obviously rigid they are. If they flowed in the wind properly it wouldn’t be much of an issue.. but they’re rigid and often clip weapons.
Trench coats are definitely too prevalent in the medium armor selections. There needs to be a better selection of skimpier armor (for guys too) and armor that doesn’t have a huge skirt of some sort.

…more not trenchcoats? I feel like that’s fair description and an easily achievable goal. We’re not really asking for much here. We’re just asking for anything but that one, specific thing. I mean look at all the freakin possibilities:
Simply type something like “steampunk leather coats” in Google image search and poof. Ideas for days.
Just about any of that Edwardian/Victorian inspired fantasy wear fits snuggly into the Guild Wars 2 aesthetic. It’s not all Aether Pirate “fell in a vat of leather, glue and gears” styles. Rangers might want something a little more traditional fantasy, but they complementary style elements and aren’t mutually exclusive. And as can clearly be seen, it’s even possible to have a longer coat without going full, shin-tickling trench.

Quite a question. How about anything that is not trench coat. I don’t even mind if the new armors show skins like some of those for male warriors. That’s actually even better. I don’t need to give them a SPECIFIC design. Your question is only valid if I denounce most of fashion styles there are.
