I need a little help explaining what to focus on and do once I hit level 80. So far I like what I am understanding. Seems a lot less grindy than most MMO’s.

Ok, so let’s say I hit level 80:

1. I can do any of the dungeons through out the world and get the same gear? Or do I focus on the level 80 dungeons to get the best gear.

2. This gear can also be bought on the auction house? (If I do not have the time to run dungeons for awhile) It’s the top gear you can get.

3. This top gear is also best for WvW.

4. I get separate PvP for gear for Spvp? (Can only be used while in SPvp?)

5. After I get my good PVE/WvW gear (which I can buy or do dungeons) The main thing I will “Grind for” is skins to make my dude look epic? P.S. How do you get skins?

6. I can now enjoy pawning newbs in WvW or enjoy doing any PVE.

Thanks for anyone who can help! Also, if I missed anything please feel free to add. Really loving this game so far!

Seems a lot less grindy…. hmmm… Have you played GW2 yet? Anyway…
1. Dungeons give out tokens that you can trade in for certain gear. The gear’s stats vary from dungeon to dungeon, so ultimately, you would have to run one dungeon over and over for the armor stats you want. Then you can use transmutation stones and transfer stats from the dungeon armor you got to an armor set you like the looks of. Still not so grindy?

2. Yes, you can buy gear in the auction house for about 25+ gold.

3. The gear you buy for PvE may not be viable in PvP or WvW. Say you buy pure berserkers gear in PvE where you don’t get hit very often, but try to take that into PvP and you will basically get 2-hit.

4. Yes, you get a separate gear set for SPvP that can be changed at any time with a PvP armor vendor.

5. Correct. Skins are just the “looks” of the armor. Example: I have two sets of boots. One I hate the looks of, but it has the correct stats. The other I really like the looks of, but it has stats I don’t want. I would use a transmutation stone to switch the stats of the ugly boots onto the looks of the awesome boots.

6. You will never be able to “pwn” noobs in this game due to level scaling (unfortunately).

1. So I want to find the Dungeon that is best for the type of character I am building?

2. Ok cool, I am only level 40ish and I already have 11g. Should be at more then 30 by level 80.

3. So if I get the best WvW gear I can, I can also use that for pve. WvW is going to be my main thing.

4. You can only wear that in Spvp correct? Not in the normal world.

5. Ok cool, so save armor sets that you love the look of? Also, is there things you can buy/find that only change the look of your set or armor into something epic?

Exotic PVE gear can be crafted/dungeon run/traded with karma in Orr/bought with wvw tokens. Plenty of ppl run with rares as the jump isn’t huge, but exotic is the current best stat armor. It requires very little grind to get when you look at options to obtain. WVW/Pve gear is interchangeable.

The main grind comes from skins to alter your look – some of those will blow your mind for grind, some fairly easy to get. It’s taste dependant it seems and I seem to have expensively grindy tastes sadly!!

Best place to look for skins to make them “epic” is to use Dulfy. Essentially it’s a web guide to all aspects of the games, but it has complete galleries of all skins for all types of weap/armor and how to get them.

1. Yup!

2. Sweet. If you need more gold, look up what a “Champ Train” is on the forums and let the money flow to you.

3. People are really hateful toward people that decide to use gear other than berserker gear. So my statement is this: If you care what people think, use berserker in PvE and choose a different combination of stats that you like for WvW. If you don’t care what people think, use whatever combination of stats you like for PvE and WvW.

4. Yes, you can only wear the armor in SPvP, not in the open world.

5. Yes, keep armor that you like the look of. And there are such items where you can change just the look of your items. Unfortunately, they either cost gems, time, or lots of gold to get. Participate in the Living Story if you want some skins.

There is no “endgame” in GWII, cus it’s not about “endgame” here.

Guild Wars 2 is about the whole experience. There is hardly anything you can do at max level that you couldn’t do at level 2.

This game is about having fun and playing with your friends, not being forced to x in order to be up to date.

You have to set your own goal, it will not be set for you.

Honestly, the end game is going to be whatever you decide to make of it. You can play WvW and run with a zerg or roam. Play PvP. Or grind stuff out in PvE.

Speed running dungeons is popular.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

I consider endgame to be collecting cool skins and armor.
The best way to get skins is to figuring out the best way to make the most money in the most efficient way. Keeping up with the new skins every few weeks actually keeps the game quite interesting.

Apart from that you can challenge yourself by trying to complete new content that is being added every 2 weeks. Some achievements can be quite frustrating but fun at the same time.

I still have my fingers crossed for them to bring back UW and Fow which were 2 amazing areas in GW1 – these 2 areas pretty much kept players playing the game for 7 years.

Anet touts that for GW2, “the whole game is endgame.” For many, this is a true statement, in that anything you can do at any other point in the game, you can still do at 80. The game does not “start” after you reach 80, as many other games sometimes do.

Essentially all hitting level 80 does for you is opens up the world as a whole, meaning that there aren’t any zones, or any dungeons you cannot do. You aren’t limited to specific zones, or level areas anymore. You may go anywhere, do anything you wish.

There is no ‘grinding’ for gear, unless you choose to.

Ascended does require some time and dedication to obtain all the necessary materials and then patience to craft (due to the time gating), and it can only be obtained via crafting at this point.

However, ascended is not a necessity outside of high level fractals. All of the rest of the game can be done using simply exotics, which are relatively easily obtained without hours upon hours of hamster wheel (as with other games). You can get them with gold, with karma, with dungeon tokens, etc. Whichever suits your fancy.

4. I get separate PvP for gear for Spvp? (Can only be used while in SPvp?)

Correct, spvp and pve are separate.

5. After I get my good PVE/WvW gear (which I can buy or do dungeons) The main thing I will “Grind for” is skins to make my dude look epic? P.S. How do you get skins?

Different dungeons offer different skins. Ascended offers a different skin, as well as the stat boost. Personally, I like to use the pvp locker to pick an ‘outfit’ or two, then I wiki what I need to get the pieces. Some are craftable, some are only available via karma, others only via dungeons, etc.

6. I can now enjoy pawning newbs in WvW or enjoy doing any PVE.

Going to point out that pve can be done naked, if you so chose. Just depends on how much of a challenge you want to create for yourself.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

My end game is getting the best gear for WvW and the coolest (in my view) looking gear for my guy.

That is my goal/end game. I want to have a sick looking dude running around WvW with the best stats he can have.

Then you will need to gather or buy materials to level your crafting, to eventually craft yourself ascended armor. (Weapons are do-able currently, and trinkets from laurels)

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Zerg Champion Farming…

Currently I’m farming 500 Ectos to get Fractal Capacitor.

Other than that, I got 100% world earlier this year and I have no desire whatsoever to visit most of the zones. All my lvl 80 alts have less than 30% world explored, and I lvled them via crafting.

Buy a set of zerker for pve needs off the auction house for about $20 US via gem to gold currency exchange. It is squishy but you can sink all your traits into surviveability to compensate till you get better. Stick to wvwvw if that is what you enjoy. Then use your karma to buy pvt trinkets at the temple of grenth (use an external website to see which servers the temple is currently open on then just guest to one of those) located in orr and use your wvwv tokens to get pvt gear from the wvwvw vendor. Hey I suck so I use pvt gear so I can spend more time alive and enjoying myself. Just my opinion.

my personal endgame….
all classes to 80 geared in exotic – 1/2 a class to go
100% world completion – at 80%
personal story done – approx 50%
game isnt done after that but I see interest waining beyond

Endgame is building rank in WvW and working with your server to victory, Fractals (an everscaling dungeon), Guild Missions, 32 dungeon paths and smashing content every 2 weeks.

It’s not so much about gearing up since it’s pretty easy to get gear. There are no ilvl gear lockouts on content, your skill defines you more than the stats on your gear.

Ummmmm… There is literally nothing to do at end game other than grind.

You either grind dungeon tokens for dungeon gear, grind gold/mats for craftable/tradable gear, or grind WvW kills for WvW gear. Then you grind dailies, monthlies, and Fractals for Ascended gear. And if you’re extremely masochistic, you grind EVERYTHING to get Legendary/Ascended weapons.

And once you’re done with that, you grind Living Story for skins. Woooooo!!!

I have no idea how this game gets the stigma of being less grindy. The only thing I can think of is because there’s really no purpose to grinding, so people call it less grindy. To me, not having a purpose to the grind is way worse than grinding for a purpose.

There’s an endgame?

Seriously, why is it that in a game like an MMO people need a definitive end? It’s a world, go, play in it. Fight the good fight. Pick a goal and go for it. Why does it need to be in a nice little package with a bow on top?

We are heroes. This is what we do!

Endgame is on you as a player. You can go back to being a role player in the oldest RPG sense, you can choose to explore the systems ingame, you can make something for the community, or you can spend it with your friends, doing the things you like best.

Since most is answered:

3: Theres 3 forms of WvW: roaming, organized groups and zergs.

If you plan in go fast to WvW, dont get a berserker – zerker – gear first (except if you plan to go with not organizede giant groups -in other words zergs, they use quantity instead of quality so it really not matter much your gear).
For roaming search for a gear that is better in 1vs1 or really small groups – depending if you plan to roam alone or with more people.

For organized groups choice a gear that give you vitality, toughness and a damage stat (be power or condition damage depending of what build and the compossition of the group you use and are, most of the time is better power because conditions have limits of stacks and are overwrited if you pass the stak limit, that can be 1 in number for burn for example).

After you have your main gear that in your case is for wvw, search one for pve. If you dont go to speedruns dungeons you will not have problems with what type of gear you use, except if theres not dps in the group lol.

The reason you need a different gear in WvW than Pve for be at your top in WvW is because pve mobs has slower atack cadence, meaning you can avoid most of the damage. Plus the WvW more organized groups confront zergs, been outnumbered for 3-1 relationship for example, meaning you need to be able to survive more damage, additionally the % damage difference with other stats convination is much less when you are buffed and this kind of group has lots of buffs, so the lost in damage % isnt that great.

Hope this help you .

Btw forget about the people that are overreacting for you writing “end game”, most of them didnt understand or read your post and are overreacting that way because theres controversy of: “the game didnt giving you goals that arent grind” vs “self created goals”.
