Can't play together with friend?
You may be on different servers or worlds. You should find out what server you both are on by going to character select and then world selection in the bottom left. One of you should then highlight the other persons server and select the guest option. This will allow you to play on that server on the next time you Load in with a character. You have to do this each time you load into the game from character select otherwise you’ll be placed in the default server.
You can tell what is your original server by the one that has a house icon. You can only be guests to 2 additional servers at a time for 24 hours.

you can also delete all your characters in order to change the server permanently for free (if you want to keep your characters you have to pay up to 1800 gems depending on the population of the server you want to transfer to)… if you jsut started then it would not be too bad if you deleted your chars now i guess… otherwise 1 of you always has to guest like serelisk described it

You can guest to your friend’s server. Serelisk above told you how.
The only thing you won’t be able to do together is World vs World. But you can do PvE together just fine.
As Orangensaft said above, you could delete all of your characters (or your friend could delete all of theirs) and then change your server to the other person’s server. Or you could very easily just guest onto eachother’s servers.
Do note that if one of you is on an EU server and the other on a US server, you can’t guest.
Yep, thats the problem, i’m on US and she is on EU.
Then one of you can delete all characters, put everything non-soul-bound in the bank, and transfer free of charge.
