Can't recall until Party wipes and Loot woes!
This is meant to prevent “rez rushing” which is basically to prevent 5 man “zergs”, and it’s definitely working as intended.
While the change by itself is a step in the right direction (agreeable by most people), there still remains broken dungeon mechanics that sometimes makes this change undesirable. They fixed that up for CoF Path 2 during “Defend Magg”, but they really could do a lot more.
About the second part, typically I have more luck with the RNG with dungeon chests than drops. But that’s just me.
Sadly, it’s all working as intended.
The Way Point thing was to stop people from ‘Zerg Rushing’ in dungeons where they would die and then charge right back into the fight.
The bigger issue to me is the loot issue, I’m in the same boat as you. I run dungeons all the time and find nothing but blues, some green and very rarely a yellow. Others find a pack full of yellows and even exotics which I have never found. Worst part, it’s something with my account because none of my characters ever find loot.
Apparently, there is some patch on the 26th that fixes some issues they found with the loot table and that’s my last chance before I have to decide if it’s worth it to even keep playing knowing I’ll never be able to buy anything. Even with the best Magic Find food I can get the game will not drop any loot for me that isn’t garbage.

And by “2 golds” I think this person means “two Exotics”. There’s a reason people don’t talk about selling golds for gold. Although, how you get two exotics from 60 tokens is beyond me… Unless by “2” he means “to” which is a very different word with a very different meaning to 2.

I think instead of ‘Golds’ he meant ‘Yellow’ or Rare items.
A lot of people grind dungeons and then use the tokens to buy rare items from the Dungeon Vendors. The Rare (Yellows) are cheaper then the Exotics, so you can usually get one for doing 1 run. They break them down to try and get Ectoplasm which they sell on the Trade Post.
After I get all my gear, I might try my hand at this method since the drop system in this game sucks. People talk all the time about making money grinding dungeons, but it sure doesn’t work for me. I run them for tokens to get the Exotic Gear I need, I find absolutely nothing of any value in dungeons beyond the Tokens.
The change to waypointing in the dungeon while the party is in combat is certainly working as intended… and it is a good thing.
But it has had some seemingly unintended (i hope) annoying side effects.
A little anecdotal evidence for you.
Yesterday I was running AC… we had dragged Kholer on to the Troll to let them duke it out. While they fought we rained down fiery death upon them. Less than 30 seconds before they both went down like a sack of potatoes, I missed Kholers pull animation amongst all the particle effects from skills being slung everywhere… got pulled in and died. It happens sometimes… except as a result I did not get any loot off either of their bodies.
We run AC a lot, it’s fast and easy. Kholer is easy to fight, but sometimes he gets jammed in the wall during the fight and you can’t see his pull animation to avoid it.
Last week I died fighting Kholer too… for that very reason, he was stuck in the wall being dps by the warriors while my mesmer was off at range doing his job to throw up feedbacks and whatnot. Missed the pull animation because the only part of Kholer that was visible was his leg. Died like a frog in a blender. He was less than 10% health at that point, I had participated in the entire fight… but I did not get to loot his body because I died.
Still get the chest, naturally… but you miss out on the silver he drops, as well as the bag that contains more tokens, influence, and more coins.
This is a phenomena that I can assure you changed after the patch… as I run AC at least once a day, and other dungeons if I have time/desire. It used to be you still got your loot if you did your job during the fight but went down.
Thanks all for the clarification on the waypoints. None of our 5 member party had gone through a dungeon since the change was made. Now I know!
As far as the loot goes it was just disheartening after putting down a boss mob not one party member would get anything better than a blue.
One other point I would like to bring up and no sense building another thread for it but does anyone else find the higher level dungeons easier to complete as down-levelled level 80s? Our party consisted of a Guardian, Thief, Ranger and two Eles but we had a greater degree of difficulty in CM then we did in SF or Arah. In fact, my level 80 Guardian equipped with exotic Knights gear, Superior Divinity runes could hold his own against 3 or 4 level 80 mobs in the Arah dungeon but died in a couple seconds flat to the cutpurses in the CM explorer mode with the Asuran artifacts.
The scaling seems to be off just a tad.
