With there already being so many events that seem to make it hard to join, I’m really sad to see the changes made this year that make it virtually impossible to join with friends for this event.

On top of that, it seems like it’s hard to even complete this since half the time you zone into a group with dolyaks already dead.

Agreed, it sucks…and to me it also sucks to be unable to be in the same instance as your friends for puzzle and bells…ok whatever for the snowball mayhem thingie and the “potential risk that people turn it into an exploit”, excuse some threw up back in the time to justify the fact you couldn’t join your friends for the Halloween activity either, but for these? Seriously, what could even be the possible excuse as for why it has been decided you can’t play bells with your friends? Why can’t do the jp together? Come on… -.-

It’s just annoying when 90% of the game is co-opable.

The alteration came about because code changes were required in order to stabilize PvP and some Instance Activities. I think perhaps you misunderstand. The code that is used for this event is code that also is used for PvP. The code that allowed party joins for Toypocalypse was changed — by necessity — in order to stablize PvP and Activities as a whole. This wasn’t a design decision, this was a necessary change.
I’m sure if you look at this objectively, it makes sense to set a short-time event for single enters in order to stabilize all of PvP, which is a permanent element of the game.
I’ll ask the designers if they have more insight, but what I was told indicates that “we had to do this change in the short term in order to make PvP and Activities more stable” which applies to the permanent game mode.”

So, it’s in place for this year and can’t be changed but we can hope for next year.
