Can't transfer back to home server :(
You’re screwed.
I’ve been trying for days to get out of Henge Of Dervani to find guilds who actually play the game together and they’re still full at 3 AM.
It’s looking to be my very first and very last MMO ever.

wait untill the WvW resets. alot of people usually transfer to the topservers during that time. good luck.
DemiGod, your only real option is to try at obscure and very off-peak times for whatever server you were on.
For example, if it is a NA server, try at 5am Eastern.
Maybe if you list what server it is you were on someone might know of a time when the population is less than full.
Shooopa, there are plenty of servers that have active WvW guilds and are listed as ‘high’ population that you can transfer to. I suppose it depends on what it is you are looking for and if you have a specific server that you really want to join. If server doesn’t matter to you, you can try Kaineng – they have an active WvW community and it is focused around a lot of active and, apparently, welcoming guilds.

That’s what I did thinking that the server I transferred too would get the forts with the vistas I needed, turns out TC is dominating all the maps and has all the forts I need… kicking myself for being impulsive. Guess this is a learning lesson.
But I’m not even looking for a WvW group, I wanted a general purpose group. And the only two so far I’ve gotten in touch with are located on full servers.

The server I’m on is Dragonbrand and I’m trying to return to Tarnished Coast. I tried 6am eastern time today but no luck. Wednesday I’ll be up at 4am for work so hopefully that’s a better off peak hour.

Shooopa, you can do the same thing if you want. Just note that TC is the unOfficial roleplaying server so you will find roleplayers there. Lots of them. They are awesome folk and very helpful but, for some people, it isn’t their cup of tea.

Same here, same here. I just want 100%!! I’m at 98% with a couple more stuff to get in TC and Eternal battlegrounds.
on a happy note, because we were rocked the wuvwuv on TC, I was able to get 100%, mah star and 2 gifts!!!

That’s actually very helpful, thank you! I should be able to get in wednesday when I wake up according to that thread. But also factoring in that there’s a special event going on this week It could be jammed up till it’s over.

Any server has decent guilds that can provide you with the general purpose group play you need, zero need for a full server if that’s what you want. And locking full servers is poor game design? Seems rather practical to me. I have no doubts that Anet did their homework on both what kind of population their servers can support as well as what sort of population threshold would negatively impact the gameplay experience for people if it were exceeded.
@OP: That’s some bad luck there, but you were using the server transfer feature for something it’s not really intended for so…
Maybe you’ll get lucky and manage to get back in during off-hours, though with the Halloween even starting soon I highly doubt it.

First, you opinion is a bit skewed. Maybe its because you said this is your first mmo? Nearly every mmo online ever post mud have had servers that locked when they were full or high population. They also had guilds/clans, and those guilds/clans were not always cross server.
So what you are calling poor design is really the standard for the genre. Actually its a bit beyond standard because server transfers have been free since release and that’s practically unheard of. As an aside, that was nice and all, but they should really turn it off now.
In other big name mmos transfers cost money, your limited by what characters you can have on a server, you cant chat, join guilds, parties or do dungeons with people that are cross server. In others transfers aren’t allowed at all. Something to consider while you are feeling insulted.
Second, there are high population servers that are simple enough to transfer to. Instead of shopping for a guild, shop for a server that’s available and then find a guild within it.
You mentioned being stuck on Henge. For some reason I wouldn’t be surprised if the guilds you contacted and server you were trying to get on to just happened to be JQ.
