There’s dozens of kitten plotholes all over the place, characters constantly referring to events that have been REMOVED (Such as trahearne telling me he was sorry about the death of a character that NO LONGER HAPPENS), and NPCs I’ve never met acting like we know each other, until several missions later it’s like we’re meeting for the first time. (The cleansing of Orr comes to mind, who is this weird butterfly lady? Oh wait, I was meant to do her mission BEFORE the cleansing? So why is the cleansing— I don’t even—)

Not to mention the removal of an entire plot segment relating to your character’s greatest fear, which is still heavily referenced throughout the story but is now never a significant point beyond foreshadowing that ultimately now leads nowhere.

Please fix these gaping plot holes, 1-70 is perfectly serviceable but from that point on the Personal Story just becomes a mess. Some of it was done for convenience (Such as moving most starting points onto the airship), some done for ease of access (The level requirements) but there was zero reason to jumble around the missions into a completely random order until many, many things make no sense. And there was no reason to remove the mission where your character accidentally bombards a pack of his or her own soldiers whilst they were under an illusion, that was a powerful moment for the story and it had a great sense of purpose. Now? Your character is basically… never wrong. Which feels very two dimensional.

You know, up to the point that I have played the character story I have felt a little confused myself. It seemed like I some how became this all important “commander” that knew exactly what to do in every situation. It was like I was given a bottle of liquid confidence that allowed me to make flawless decisions for a very serious situation.

I also felt like I honestly didnt deserve the role of commander. It does feel like I was never wrong and my decisions really didnt carry any weight because I could make no mistake. Honestly that is what really made me not enjoy the story that much. I didnt feel that much tension.

This is asked for about as much as Spears for land usage…I wonder if they will notice and do it!

Enough sarcasm, im with you here, i havent touched any of the 10 characters i have that need to do their personal stories after level 50 because of how many plot holes anet created when they re did the story, poorly it might be added.

The pvp community reminds me of what Obi-kittenenobi describes Mos Eisley as from star wars.

They have ways of deflating your ego. Once you become commander, your name becomes Heyou Overhere or Heyou Gottaminit. You don’t get any respect at all.

this seems very relevant:

The devs have been reviewing your feedback on the New Player Experience. While some bug fixes have already been made, the team will be making other updates in the future to address:

  • Plot holes and story inconsistencies that may have been introduced with story realignment
  • Replacing the missing profession mechanics UI for the Ranger and Mesmer professions
  • Investigating issues that prevent players from retaining some skills (heal, utility, and elite) that they had previously unlocked
  • Addressing an issue with bundles that prematurely unlocked utility and elite skills

Other aspects of the NPE are being examined, and your constructive feedback is welcome and appreciated.

basically: chapter 7 was changed: “my greatest fear” plotline was removed, and then the “cleansing of Orr” plotline was moved from the end of chapter 8 to replace chapter 7. it really made more sense before the sept 9, 2014 feature patch.

now, you can see that they’ve said they’ll fix it, but they haven’t said “how” they’ll fix it. i think we’d all prefer them to restore the personal story to how it was originally, and then if they feel that the restored chapter 8 is too long, they can split chapter eight into 2 or 3 shorter chapters.

Hell they could make it split up into 5 levels rather than 10 if they feel they drag out. It honestly seems to me during the restructure of the last ten levels of story, the testers just skipped all the text and just said whether or not they were able to finish it. A complete shame, as up until the Battle for Claw Island the story is neatly tied together, but after that it just became less interesting, and now it’s even worse because characters keep referring to events that either didn’t happen, have yet to happen or are just plain inconsistent.

Heck the missing missions are STILL ON THE WIKI, listed as being after the battle for Fort Trinity.

You literally meet the Largos for the first time after the purification of Orr mission where she shows up to congratulate you.. XD

as funny as it is the new arrangement of the personal story missions is a complete mess
there was no reason to change it and I to wish they would change it back to what it used to be

Wow. Haven’t done a new character since my original from head-start. No idea all these changes happened.

Wonder why they removed some of those quests.

Shame.
