There are a lot of games that have built-in UI customization options, so could we get UI customization options for GW2 too?

I am 90% (ish) sure that they said early in the game that it’s never going to happen. The reasons I am even more foggy on. It came up early in GW2 history and the general reply was something along the lines that allowing customization would ruin their desired aesthetics of the game.

Whatever the reasons, I am sure that’s it not something on their to do list. It would be nice because there is an increase in the requests for UI as 4K becomes more of a thing. Also, real estate, more stuff has been added to the UI since launch making it even more cluttered. Try playing it on a itty bitty laptop screen, forget seeing anything around your player. However, the dev team is not the same as it was at launch, so maybe the people who were sticklers for this sort of thing are no longer there?

The reasons are probably moot; whatever they were, the situation is that the capability was not built into the game. Adding it would probably require enough work that it makes sense to completely overhaul the UI, something that I (among others) would love to see.

However, that means it’s unlikely to be something that’s done as part of any ordinary game update. It’s more the sort of thing they would do for an expansion. I would assume it won’t happen for Expac #2, since the current demand seems to be for more stuff to do, with just a few Quality-of-Life improvements.

tl;dr I am sure something like this is near the top of their list of QoL changes. All the same, because it’s a lot of effort for the benefit compared to other changes, I don’t think it will happen soon, let alone soon™.

Customization was nice in GW1, it would be nice to have in GW2, but I’d rather get stuff like… build template… before anything that is just about convenience.

However, for 4k owners, the UI is really smaller, we need a larger one, and at the very least a bigger pointer. The pointer is ridiculously small and it’s very easy to lose track of it.
