You know those wooden and steel chests that spawn? They are designated for rare(wooden chests) and exotics(steel chests) and have been for several months now, look it up.

They drop much more often than rares. If they do take the place of a rare you would of otherwise got, the drop system would been seriously messed up.
I’m sure they take the place of something, though, meaning you get support ticket instead of any item you would of otherwise got. Sort of like: open a chest and get 4 random items, this was one of them (it could of taken the place of a green, or blue, or even junk or precursor).
I think I only get these support tickets from chests. like the chests after the boss in queen’s gauntlet or meta event.
Since the last patch I’ve only seen them come from permanent chests, such as those at the end of jumping puzzles, not the spawned chests (which usually hold gauntlet tickets). There’s one in pretty much every chest I’ve opened, chests which have never given me a rare, so they aren’t replacing rare drops. Neither are the gauntlet tickets, any more than kite fortunes or support tokens before them did.
It’s just a bug, and you can sell them for something like a silver and change, so it’s usually better than getting a white or blue. Why complain that you’re getting free money?

No. Support Tokens are EXTRA loot you get, it doesn’t replace your “rares”. It’s very easy to verify too just do a few Jumping Puzzles, you will easily see you get an extra drop (the Support Token) then you did previously.
Not to mention I seem to be getting one Support Token for each JP I finish, I must’ve missed so many rares indeed!

They also drop from those little chests behind Veterans in caves and such. I like them, they are worth 1 Silver 14 copper. They certainly do not replace rares, as I do those chests every day, and have rarely (kind of a pun) gotten a rare from those chests.

Exactly. Since the kite fortunes started dropping I see a chest pop up every four or five kills. I occasionally get rares when killing random mobs, but never that fast… and I still get them as often as before. Randomposter.3456 can insist they take away his rares all he wants, I believe my own eyes.
I made a few bonus gold selling the ones that built up last month, and occasionally get a little bonus. I wish they still dropped instead of the Gauntlet tickets, I’m not interested in farming it and those soulbound tickets just clutter up my alts. I’ll hang on to them a bit just in case, though…

I have found multiple rares alongside the support tokens, and there is no way that would happen as often as it did if support tokens were sharing the same loot table. I am actively looking for it, but, not sure I can/will find it since the search function is a total joke, wish there was a way to retrieve posts that I have replied to that were moved([i}you know the ones sent by devs alerting of the move like the ones sent for infractions[/i]) and I’m sure by now it is buried deep, but, as I said I am looking. I am not making this up, I know what I read and a dev replied that they were looking into this.

I know how may drops I get from a specific jumping puzzle chest..the one in behind the waterfall in LA. I get the same number of drops each time (which is 3). But when I get the token, I get 3 drops and the token. It’s not replacing anything.
Before the token I’d never gotten for drops from it.
In less than two weeks, I looted close to 400 support tokens myself. If those support tokens were actually taking the place of rare equipment drops, that means I would have gotten almost 400 rares in less than two weeks? No way! I’m lucky if I get a couple of rares a day.

I’ve picked up 5-6 Support Tokens in the last couple of days. These were the ones that were used to be able to vote for Ellen or Evon in the last set of temporary content.
I’ve gotten them off random mobs in Queensdale, Gendarran, Malchor’s Leap, one from a boss mob in CM explorable, one from a level 75 personal story instance (leading up to Zhaitan) and from some random champion somewhere I cannot remember.
In the case of both champions, I do not believe the tokens replaced rare loot. At least as far as I could tell given pattern recognition of “normal” loot amount.
Agree that they need to be removed just to get them cleaned out. In the meantime, an extra silver is a pre-birthday bonus.

Memory is a tricky thing – eye witnesses can give conflicting reports of an event because our minds fill in details that we miss or forget. One thing you read among hundreds, after several months? Not always reliable…
Kite fortunes were the first to appear in the “rare chests” and took people by surprise because they were “rare” items that actually dropped much more often than a rare should. The thread you saw may have been a misunderstanding, devs reassuring players that they did not replace actual rare drops, or a claim (true or not) from early in the event that they did this. If it actually did replace rare drops the error was quickly corrected and did not happen by the time support tokens came along, and certainly does not happen now.

They are robbing rare drop slots from chests and serve no purpose other than that…
I think you mean the Pavillion Tickets are robbing those slots.
Atleast the Support Tokens are actually WORTH SOMETHING at vendors
I’m holding on to those Pavilion tickets just in case they happen to turn out like support tokens. Chances are they won’t but since I will never use them anyway it doesn’t hurt to keep them for a bit.
