I’m not on the game 24/7… I’m actually in my school right now typing this, but still wondering what’s up with the guild I"m in.

Would it be possible to implement an app to synchronise with the in-game guild chats?

Just wondering.

Anet wants to open up the API to allow this.
Most players would love this.

The problem is the security. I believe they are waiting for a fully completed implementation of OAuth2 before allowing open-source devs to produce such things.

I"m very sorry but that didn’t seem like English to me.

By context, I think you mean that ArenaNet has to release “set of codes” so that some other devs can work on it, while the entire game code isn’t stolen.

But can’t Anet develop a chat app themselves? I mean… they developed this game. Lol. I’m no programmar/ software developer, but a chat app seems like a much easier job than an MMORPG. Correct me if I’m wrong.

They actually planned to do that before release but they dropped it.

What he meant is that Anet has to implement proper security measures that will not limit developers for making proper apps which will be functional with Gw2, but also won’t create openings for people who would use such opportunity to steal accounts or gain access to user accounts.

If this will work out, I am truly awaiting new apps and overlays(Overwolf) for Gw2 that will work greatly.

For example:
When Aion – The Tower of Eternity was still p2p model, it had an official website which was called MyAion.

MyAion offered features w/o logging to game:

• checking your characters level
• checking your characters gear
• checking your characters stats
• checking your characters rank
• checking your characters mailbox(you could read them)
• writing mails
• checking other players gear
• checking other players ranks
• checking other players stats

MyAion was a good feature which only asked to be expanded to next level. Unfortunately it got abandoned – only KR one work and is even better.

I assume that when Anet will complete opening API along with proper security, then we’ll sooner or later have something very similar.
